“Suga” Rashad Evans and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua were originally scheduled for the next light heavyweight title bout. However Rashad, who blew out his knee and was ultimately pulled from the match, left an opening for the title fight in Newark against Shogun for the upcoming UFC event in March.
Tonight at the UFC 126 event in Las Vegas, Nevada, after Jon Jones beat Ryan Bader via submission at 4:20 of round two, they announced he will go against Shogun for the title. Spectacular show put on by Jones at UFC 126 against Bader, now putting him in the number one contender spot for the title.
