The Ultimate Warrior Discusses His Past Relationship with Vince McMahon

– The Ultimate Warrior recently joined Mister Saint Laurent on MLW Radio, the official podcast of Major League Wrestling. The full interview is available at with Warrior talking about his time with WWE, Vince McMahon, CM Punk, his upcoming reality show and more. Below, Warrior talks about his relationship with Vince McMahon:

“For me it was really unique, maybe more unique than for anybody else. Whenever I would go to Stamford, I didn’t stay at a hotel. I just went straight out to Vince’s house, Vince and Linda’s home. Shane was there at the time. He was in high school. I had a big brother, little brother relationship with him. That’s the way that I would describe it. I was very close to all of them.”

“I remember taking long walks on the property out there with Vince. I remember talking about that even beyond the Ultimate Warrior’s time as the champion or the thing of today that years down the road that he would still be Ultimate Warrior as a persona and me as a person would still be a part of this family. It was very close and very intimate. I don’t think that it’s like that at all today and I don’t remember anybody else being given that courtesy or allowed that openness to their family as I was back then.”

I am searching on Youtube for that Hogan/Andre match in 1988. Do you know where it took place??

I think he might have been to Vince’s house once. Nobody liked the Warrior in WWF. He couldn’t wrestle very well (neither could Hogan) and I believe all that prima donna stuff about him.

warrior was one of my many favorite wrestlers in wwf days wwe federation years growing up kids. warrior, bret hart, pipper, lod stenier bros, savage, razor ramon, demoltion, naturaldisaters, smoking guns were my favorites during the federation years. also yokozuna beat hogan in his wrestling prime at king of ring 1993 when he hit leg drop. i know the whole exploding camara in his face. but yoko beat hogan not clean. only 2 guys beat hogan clean with no outside interference is andre giant in 1988 with double arm suplex. warrior with big splash at wm6. hogan threw temper tandrom like a little child after match.

Ultimate Warrior was the first wrestler I was introduced to. Loved his fast pace music and running to the ring was awesome seeing that as kid. He was the only character I ever used in WrestleFest and I used to have the plush teddy bear type toys of him, Savage and Hogan. Good Times.

From 1988 to 1991, the Ultimate Warrior was the greatest, better than Hogan, Warrior was my favorite wrestler along with Randy Savage during those years. Did ANYONE besides Warrior ever cleanly beat SUPER Hogan in his prime? I would say Andre was close, but Hogans shoulders were up. Andre should have gotten credit as a one time world Champion for that, even despite immediately forfeiting the title to DiBiase.

Sorry just reminiscing from early childhood and VHS tapes. I hope we see Warrior one more time in WWE (in any capacity), I really wish we got to see Savage again.
