While it’s usual to see #1 contender’s matches on WWE TV, next week’s NXT episode will feature a unique stipulation match with title implications behind it.
It was previously announced that Drew McIntyre will be facing Bobby Roode on NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, but after this week’s episode of NXT ended, William Regal announced that Roderick Strong will also get an opportunity to earn a title shot next week.
Strong will be facing Drew on next week’s episode of NXT and if he wins his match, he will secure a title opportunity for himself after the upcoming TakeOver event but the match between McIntyre and Roode will still happen.
The company also confirmed that Andrade “Cien” Almas will be facing Johnny Gargano on the TakeOver PPV later this month. This will be Gargano’s first Takeover match since being attacked by his partner Tomasso Ciampa.
TakeOver: Brooklyn III will take place on August 19th from Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York, 2 days before the SummerSlam PPV.
