Update on backstage reaction to The Rock calling CM Punk after yesterday’s RAW

According to a report from PWInsider, The Rock’s phone call to CM Punk was not too well received backstage at last night’s (Mon. February 20, 2017) Monday Night RAW.

The Rock was backstage at RAW to help film some of the “Fighting With My Family” film, being co-produced by Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions and WWE Studios, about Paige and her wrestling family. The scene they were filming was based on Paige winning the WWE Diva’s Title from AJ Lee, causing fans to begin a CM Punk chant.

‘The Great One’ then gave the people what they wanted and gave Punk a call on his cell phone in front of everyone, but he didn’t answer so a voicemail was left instead along with the Staples Center audience joining in.

Backstage Triple H and Vince McMahon were not happy at all about Rock’s actions, as the segment was not planned by the WWE or even approved. The report described Rock’s actions as something done ‘in the moment’ for the crowd. It was also suggested that it was very clear to anyone standing near Vince or Hunter (especially Hunter) that they did not want this happening.

The message to wrap things up was soon delivered to The Rock inside the ring, who did so.
