Update on John Cena’s Eye Injury, WWE Looks at Potential New Members of The Shield

– WWE’s website has a new article up with the editors looking at potential third members for The Shield now that Seth Rollins turned on Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. They listed Adrian Neville, Big E, Dolph Ziggler, Cody Rhodes, John Morrison and Daniel Bryan as potential replacements. They wrote the following about Morrison, the only one named that is not currently signed to WWE:

“Now, listen. If you lose a high-flyer, you’d better grab one to replace him and no WWE Superstar adheres as closely to the Seth Rollins blueprint as John Morrison. The WWE Universe went gaga for Rollins’ aerial tactics throughout The Shield’s dominant run, but The Prince of Parkour was scaling structures and confounding opponents long before The Architect threw on his Kevlar. Granted, it’s hard to tell if the former Intercontinental Champion’s mindset — to say nothing of his sartorial tendencies — would exactly adhere to the aesthetic of The Shield (though we’d pay good money to see Roman Reigns in a chinchilla coat). But the in-ring transition would be smooth, and might even be an improvement in some places. Rollins was big on self-sacrifice — a younger, lither Mick Foley who swapped a button-down for bulletproof. Morrison, with his kicks that flowed like rubber but hit like rock, was efficient without taking too much out of himself. There’s no doubt that his inclusion in The Hounds of Justice could well make Rollins and The Authority eat their lunch, or at least their words.”

– John Cena barely wrestled at Sunday night’s WWE live event in Rochester, Minnesota. He teamed with The Usos to defeat The Wyatt Family. Cena only came in only at the end of the match, hitting his signature moves and getting the pin on Bray Wyatt. Cena’s eye is still swollen completely shut.

I didn’t see this post so sorry for a repost. But really WWE spoilers about Morrison. If you leave the WWE then they think your dead. So the fact they talk about John Morrison is surprising if they don’t bring him back

Personally I want to see Santino in the shield, so we can see the cobra wearing a mini tactical vest

  • Knightcon

I agree. HHH should be Flair and Orton like HHH in the original Evaluation. With 2 younger guys like Rollins and whoever else they add

  • The Bad Guy

down the road I see bootista joining the shield, it only makes sense plus it would bring the fans behind him as a face taking out hhh and randy.

  • what?

I myself think the whole thing is a swerve. what better way to fool most fans

  • Corey

I actually like Kofi as the replacement……it gives a much needed reboot for his character, you dont see it coming, and he is just as good a high flyer and seller as Rollins. If you want shock value and something refreshing, I’d go with that.

I agree, especially this early. I don’t see the point of getting a new member that wouldn’t make it seemed like this was planned. I don’t feel there’s need for a third member. Atleast not until summer slam or after. But I feel Morrison would be a good choice bc he was a great talent and I’d would be nice if it was a lower card returning superstar, but I fulling understand using Adrian.

Adrian Neville makes the most sense. He looks the part and is ready for the big time. He was rumored to be joining Evolution before Rollins jumped. I think the plan going forward is to keep the teams as they are and there will be a series of tag matches between Orton/Rollins and Reigns/Ambrose. Honestly, if the Shield gets a new member, I think Evolution should as well. Triple H should be kept in a very minimal role going forward, almost like a Godfather in the mafia. Just let the other guys do his dirty work.
