Update on Rey Mysterio’s future

We previously noted that a deal between Rey Mysterio and WWE didn’t work out because of the tight schedule of the company and the animosity between Mr. McMahon and Mysterio’s representative Konnan.

At that time it was noted that the most likely destination in future for the former WWE Champion was GFW, though apparently, that’s not the case anymore.

In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter it has been reported that the negotiations between Rey and GFW are no longer taking place and all talks of him coming to the company ‘appear to be dead’.

According to report, the original plans were to tease a match between Jeff Jarret and Alberto Del Rio for Bound For Glory where Rey would show up at the PPV and replace Jarret for the match at the last minute.

After the talks between the two parties fell through, they changed the plans to an actual match between Jeff and Del Rio, though after the recent events between Jeff Jarret and GFW it’s not clear what role Alberto will play on the upcoming PPV.

It’s being said that the Master Of 619 is currently heavily involved with Mexican wrestling promotion Crush. However, it wasn’t revealed what role he has in the promotion.
