Velveteen Dream to return to NXT early in 2018

One of 2017’s breakout stars was Patrick Clark, AKA The Velveteen Dream. Dream, a former Tough Enough competitor, turned heads with his Prince-esque gimmick, sporting a more flamboyant attire and a unique personality not seen in the WWE in quite some time. The Vainglorious One’s only real feud in NXT was against Aleister Black, and it was a captivating feud from beginning to end. Dream and Black fed off of each other in ways that not many people expected.

After months of mind games between the two, and Dream looking for some kind of recognition from the deadly striker, he would come up short at NXT TakeOver: WarGames. Though he lost to Black that night, his star making performance, from his ring gear to his unique offense, earned the respect and adoration of the WWE Universe. However, we haven’t seen Dream since November 18th.

Rumors and reports suggest that Dream suffered an injury at WarGames, and he has been out trying to make a quick recovery. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported recently that Velveteen Dream is fully healed and is expected to make his return in January. Dream is listed on a few booking sheets for NXT, so it seems we’ll see him return in time for the tapings in Atlanta, Georgia.
