Now while this means that there will be over 60 WWE superstars wrestling at Wrestlemania the card feels like it is 1-3 matches short. Up to a couple of weeks ago there were some nice feuds developing that could have been resolved with matches at Wrestlemania. So here are my 3 matches (that may even get added) that the Wrestlemania card needs to make it fel complete:

  1. Intercontinental Title match – Big E vs. Cesara vs. Jack Swagger.

It seems a great shame that with the history of great Quality Intercontinental matches associated with Wrestlemania (Savage vs. Steamboat or Michaels vs. Razor Ramon), that the belt is not being defended on this night. For a couple of months, both Cesaro and Swagger were trying to outdo each other by defeating Big E without success due to each other’s interference. A match pitting all 3 would have either added fuel and fire to an eventual Real Americans break-up, or we could have seen Cesaro’s full face turn by winning the title by pinning Swagger, keeping Big E looking strong. A missed opportunity by the WWE here.

  1. 1.      Christian vs. Sheamus

These two gave us a series of matches since The Elimination Chamber where Christian eliminated Sheamus. Most of these matches ended the same way with Sheamus coming on top, although all have been very competitive as these two have shown great chemistry in the ring. With all of Christian’s reported injuries and possible retirement, an extreme rules match with the added stipulation that if Christian doesn’t win then he has to retire added in. All of a sudden a match against 2 former world champions with the added possibility of Christian’s last match is on the Wrestlemania card, adding some individual star power, rather than these two getting lost within a 30 man battle Royal.

  1. 1.      Alberto Del Rio vs. Dolph Ziggler

Another nice feud that was developing nicely before the announcement of the battle royal. This time last year both were riding high on the World Heavyweight Champion scene, with ADR champion, and Dolph Ziggler cashing in the day after Wrestlemania. ADR would eventually win it back, but this feud always felt unresolved. A match at Wrestlemania with (as I like adding stipulations) the winner of this match becoming new number 1 contender for the US title, a title that seems to have been forgotten about, all of a sudden becomes important as 2 former world champions are battling over who should fight for it.

These matches still could have happened, with the Tag team match having another team added to it instead of the Real Americans (such as Harper and Rowans), and the 4 superstars removed from the battle royal replaced by NXT rookies, or legends (such a s Jake The Snake, Ultimate Warrior) which meant the battle royal still would have draw power. These matches make the Wrestlemania card look and feel like a more important PPV.

Let me know what you think?

What matches would you have liked added?

Hooroo and see you next week.
