— Sam Roberts interviews WWE star Wade Barrett in the video below and when asked about his current role in WWE, here was his response:

“I’m never going to be happy just kind of being in the middle. I always want to be at the top. That’s my aim. I want to be the World Champion. Sometimes you do have to bide your time a little, sometimes you have to wait for opportunities, but from my perspective I do everything I can everyday to get myself up there and get myself higher on the card, and that’s really my goal is to be World Heavyweight Champion.”

well I nvr said anything about his accent holding him back it was his ability to deliver a good coherent promo, and he was over with the fans but not as over as other’s who were there at the time above him like hbk, Bret hart, diesel, and undertaker. And as far as regal goes I believe hhh had to push really hard to get Vince to give him a shot in the main event scene and in the midst of the biggest push of his career he got caught using, and that was during the time wwe was under the microscope big time for that stuff so they had no choice but to suspend him, plus regal had been let go in the past for drug issues so that hurt him too.

The steroid/drug argument is a waste of time, yeah ok he took steroids but so did Eddie Guerrero, Shawn Michaels (ok well not steroids, but some kind of drugs), Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio & various other top names and they all held the belt at some point in their career. As far as Bulldog goes he could’ve easily been WWE champion, his accent shouldn’t have anything to do with it (look at Khali, he can’t talk to save his life but they gave him the belt) he was solid in the ring and ridiculously over with the fans, Vince simply just doesn’t care

I agree both men should have been a world champion, regal in particular. But the wwe was going to give regal a title run back when he was raw gm and won the king of the ring, but then he got himself suspended for using steroids. And the bulldog did headline about a dozen ppvs in his day, most of them for the wwe title. But he just didn’t have the mic skills to be champ, he could barley get a point across in an interview. It would have been hard to build a story and further rivalries with a guy who just didn’t have it when it came to interviews.

I meant in the sense of being a main event player or WWE/World Champion, all those guys you mentioned SHOULD have been wold champion at some point in their career, but Vince just threw them in midcard and they’ve been stuck there their entire career. Even look at Drew Mcintyre….. from the chosen one to job squad version 2

So i guess william regal being a multi time ic, tag champ doesnt count, or the bulldog who was an ic champ and multi time tag champion also doesnt count?

It takes two people to make a match entertaining wade is better when he works with smaller guys like rey and cara sad to say his best matches were with those two

Wade Barrett should just become a “plain” jobber archetype. Have RAW come back from commercial with him in the ring, his opponent gets the full intro, and performs a full routine squash.

This way Wade can be entertaining AND it gives his opponents a chance to shine. You need jobbers like “Iron Mike” (who almost won a battle royal) and less like “Barry Hardy”.

Wade would be “good” in such a role, and frankly, while it could be seen as a demotion of status it would be a good opportunity to be his best self.

    Wade is boring to watch.

  • ssadasd

    I agree with this statement.

Sorry Wade, perhaps you should actually try having a character, and being a more interesting to watch in the ring. Quite frankly, you’re one of the most bland people in all of WWE or TNA right now. And that’s really saying something.

He should have been given the belt at the height of the Nexus storyline. Of course, that was also the perfect time to turn Cena heel instead of “firing” him and having him show up everywhere in kneepads.

I’d like to see Barrett with the WHC at some point soon, it seems like he’s on a roll and they just stall him or something, I dunno.
