We Want Your Feedback on

The new W-E design has now had a few months to bed in so we’d like to hear your overall feedback on the site – specifically any areas which could be improved. Things that fall under that umbrella could be loading time, the layout in a certain browser, the site structure, or ANYTHING else that affects your browsing experience.

At present, we are re-working the current design to improve the loading time, and to most importantly, make the site responsive for mobile devices and tablets so that you guys can get a quality browsing experience on whatever device you visit on.

Our overall goal, is, and always be, to retain our visitors, attract new ones, and ensure the user experience is as good as it possibly can be compared to our rivals.

In terms of feedback, please provide by either commenting directly within this post, or getting involved on our Facebook page.

Right, I was just wondering what the overall issue was and also raising awareness about a certain aspect, since results vary greatly.

Any chance of doing something on spoiler reveals, as it stands its pointless because right after the word spoiler your getting the info without having to click on the story. Maybe add a few words after the word spoiler might hide the spoiler’s contents. Also being posting on this site for years and all of a sudden my comments have to wait and be approved , why?

An app with new headline notifications would be awesome.

Hello, this is overall. Disqus does sometimes take a while to load with the hour glass for me too, but as Keith points out, that’s out of our control as they’re a third party offering.

  • AmishPatel

Thanks Tim – the phone offering is something we’re really looking to improve on.

  • AmishPatel

Thank you – that will definitely be rectified.

It’s just pages in general. Disqus takes a bit sometimes, but I’m aware that’s not within your control a lot of the time.

Maybe an option to get rid of the pictures next to the stories might speed up the page? I liked how there were more stories on the page than having pictures next to the stories.

  • My primary issue is performance. On my MacBook Pro, it really bogs down my Firefox browser (more so stories than the front page but that is a problem too). Scrolling becomes really jerky and things get really wonky. I’m not sure if that is due to the number of ads and scripts running on the pages or what but it has made using the site quite miserable.

I have no real issues with the new site but on my phone it loads really slow and I have 4g so it shouldnt. I also know someone else who says it wont even load on their phone. Idk why that would be just thought Id pass it along. I personally would LOVE a W-E app.

Are you talking about the comments section, or the page entirely? Sometimes Disqus takes a while to load for me.

  • Will Henderson

i agree, i miss that feature of going to the next story or previous story via link at the bottom.

  • AmishPatel

Great suggestion David, and that is something that will be introduced. 🙂

the thing i liked about the old design was the next and previous story being at the bottom of each page and id like to see that return

  • Shawn OB

It takes a little while to load on my I pad.

  • AmishPatel

Cheers Keith – that will hopefully be resolved with the new responsive design / coding. I have the same issue on iPhone at times also.

The only issue I’ve got with W-E, is that on certain Android devices, the page takes way too long to load, or freezes completely.
