As we previously reported, The Rock was backstage at last night’s (Mon. February 20, 2017) Monday Night RAW to film some of he and WWE Studio’s “Fighting With My Family,”a movie based on Paige and her wrestling family.
After RAW went off air The Rock hit the ring to tell fans that the scene being filmed tonight was based on when Paige defeated AJ Lee for the WWE Divas Title. This caused the crowd to go crazy and chant CM Punk’s name. Rock revealed that Punk wouldn’t be in the movie, but said that if the fans wanted CM Punk he’d call him and let him hear it.
‘The Great One’ took out his cell phone to call Punk and left a voicemail. He then tried to FaceTime Punk next but had no such luck. Here’s what The Rock had to say on the voicemail:
“Hey Punk, it’s Rock, this is not a joke,” The Rock said. “I’m literally calling you from the middle of the Staples Center with about 15,000 strong. I hope you can hear this, again, this is not a rib. They are chanting your name!”
He held his phone up to the crowd who then began chanting ‘CM Punk.’
Punk took to Twitter to respond to the incident:
Thanks Los Angeles. Nice to hear from you. @STAPLESCenter
