Joey Ryan is certainly a controversial character in the world of professional wrestling. While some enjoy his penis-related antics, others feel that it isn’t what wrestling is supposed to be and is the opposite of what WWE wants. However, anything is possible in professional wrestling.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE has been in talks with Joey Ryan. While he is free from his Lucha Underground contract, he still has yet to sign with AEW despite appearing in a few Being The Elite videos. So WWE contacted him in order to know if he had any interest in joining NXT after the news broke out that he’s a free agent.
Ryan was not given an official offer as of earlier in the week but they contacted him after getting word he was a free agent when the word was out that he was let out of his LU contract, and asked if he was willing to move to Orlando, wrestle a few years there and then move into a coaching position.
It was noted that Joey Ryan’s income from the indies is more than what he would earn in NXT and that it wouldn’t be wise for him to make this change at this stage in his career.
If Joey ever does sign with WWE, his character will no doubt be changed significantly and he would be highly limited. So it is doubtful that he will sign with WWE.
