- WWE’s website has a new article up looking at 14-time World Champion John Cena and how he ranks in the top 5 reigns. Here’s the list:

5. Tied with 11 – Edge (4 WWE Title reigns, 7 World Title reigns) and Randy Orton (8 WWE Title reigns, 3 World Title reigns)
4. Hulk Hogan – 12 (6 WWE Title reigns, 6 WCW Title reigns)
3. Triple H – 13 (8 WWE Title reigns, 5 World Title reigns)
2. John Cena – 14 (11 WWE Title reigns, 3 World Title reigns)
1. Ric Flair – 16 (8 NWA Title reigns, 6 WCW Title reigns, 2 WWE Title reigns)

– There has been some talk of doing a WWE Title vs. World Heavyweight Title match at WrestleMania XXX next year. The current plan is to build the World Heavyweight Title up between now and WrestleMania, which is why Cena won it from Alberto Del Rio.

Punk and Bryan are a team, but have a friendly rivalry; one wins the rumble and the other wins the WWE championship with the former challenging them at WrestleMania… Meanwhile at the ELC PPV, the rumble winner is a surprise entrant for the WHC match and wins. BINGO

  • millerj265

That’s the only way the WHC will be in a major match at WrestleMania, seeing as every mania for the last 9yrs by then has been built for the most part around 3 things, the streak, a returning legacy star, and whatever john cena is doing. And if taker still has one or two more manias left in him following this one, then nobody including John Cena will be ending it at mania 30. If it is ever broken which it shouldn’t be and in all likelihood will not be, but if it ever is it will be the mania at which taker decides to retire, but its unlikely it will ever be broken.

First off safe to say that John Cena going to break Ric Flair record at being a 17 time World champion soon and that don’t bother me one bit. Who better then Cena no not a fan but not a hater either. When it comes to Cena just do respect.
Second don’t see it happen bring the two titles together to me the World title just needs to be put at a major level again and that title will be ok. Right now Cena is that guy and still see Cena vs Undertaker for the World title at Wrestlmania with Cena ending the streak. Yes the rumors has been Brock Lasner vs Undertaker but rumors on the internet most of time are proven wrong. It maybe Taker vs Lasner then again it may be Cena vs Taker for the World title. Either way I see the World title being in a big match at this year Wrestlmania if Cena still the champion by then.

I’m all for it. Since the brand extension ended having two world titles has been rendered completely pointless. Plus I miss the days of one world champion. It made winning the world title mean so much more and it changing hands a much bigger deal.

  • millerj265

I don’t mind there being two world titles all that much, but I would like them to unify the IC and US titles. Without the brand split anymore having 2 world champions is already weird and kind of useless but I can deal with that, but having 2 secondary titles is even more so considering that the WHC is in reality the real secondary title. So if you think about it the IC and US titles are basically tied as the third tier titles, or this generations European and TV championships lol.

  • JohnCena33

That would make sense, I hope they dont unify the belts though, personally I like all of the belts.

  • millerj265

That would have way too much potential to be the greatest match in WrestleMania history for the WWE to ever allow that match to take place, great matches, involving the best wrestlers who are over with the fans isn’t what’s best for business BROTHER!

  • millerj265

Id say if they did unify them, which I don’t think they will, but if they did id bet on them just retiring the WHC belt and keep the current WWE title.

  • millerj265

There not going to unify the titles, they want both championships for house shows because they believe it helps the shows draw better having a world title defended in the main event, which is the same concept they’ve always had except it used to be the IC or Tag titles headlining the smaller B house shows, and the WWE title at the larger A house shows.

  • Seth Becker

HHH decides Orton winning the WHC is best for business, so he puts Orton at the one spot in the Rumble. Orton wins the Rumble and comes after Cena.

  • JohnCena33

So Cena vs Orton with both titles on the line leading to the reintroduction of the undisputed championship? Seems cool but unlikely due to the fact of the new wwe championship belt.

  • MrDr3w

I hope it’s not a unification match. On one hand, I can admit that having two world championships is a little weird. But on the other hand, I think building up the WHC, just to get rid of it at Mania seems pointless to me.

  • Someone

Cool idea but then what’s the point of the royal rumble?

  • Cold Gin

If it’s a unification match, I’m all for it

  • ddfindl

As long as its CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan

  • Matthew Farrell

Only way a champ vs champ match is going to sell is if BOTH titles are on the line.
