Former WWE developmental wrestler Devon Nicholson has issued a statement addressing the reports of ‘inappropriate conduct’ at WWE’s former training school at Deep South Wrestling.

“I was in DSW during the time of the incident between Zack Ryder, Melissa Coates and Drew Hankinson. Nobody involved in the “Naked Jelly Donut Incident” were forced to do it. They volunteered to do it to get out of training that day. Bill had come up with the elaborate game because he wanted them to train and didn’t think they’d agree to it.

“Hankinson was not “nearly naked” he was totally naked, the only thing covering his genital area were his hands. He was in the ring nude for approximately 30 – 45 minutes while Demott walked from one corner to the other holding up approximately 18 jelly donuts for Hankinson to “stink face” on both Zack Ryder and Melissa Coates. Ryder and Coates were cheered on heavily by many of the DSW talent who also did not want to train.”

“I had passed a try out and was paying to be there to learn wrestling and attempt to get a WWE contract but went back to wrestling in Puerto Rico shortly after this incident occurred. I doubt Vince McMahon knew that this type of “training” was going on in his territory and I had assumed him finding out was one of the reasons it was shut down and Demott was let go. Although I disagreed with some of his training methods, I had a good relationship with Bill Demott while I was in DSW and valued the wrestling related advice he gave me.”

    I’ve been a referee for three years, worked and traveled with some of the best unknown guys in the country, as well as some big names (Colt Cabana, Adam Pearce, Tommy Dreamer, Greg Valentine, Marty Janetty, and even Melissa Coates, one involved in this “scandal”). I’ve trained with Indy wrestlers, I’ve been in locker rooms with Indy wrestlers, I’ve shared hotel rooms with Indy wrestlers. Is that enough for you?

    I didn’t say anything about a rite of passage. My guess is somebody (Bill) made a bet as a joke, the others took it seriously. I can’t say I’ve ever seen this particular thing happen, but I’ve seen enough to know not to be surprised.

    Bottom line is that what you see on tv is scripted entertainment by athletic actors. The life of a professional wrestler is far from “PG”, and is very juvinile at times. If you want to lose respect for them because they did something “tasteless” that’s your decision, but this is how they are. I’m sorry if anyone is upset to know there guys, whom you don’t know personally, aren’t what you think they are.

    @Joe, don’t get your panties in a bunch. I don’t believe any of the commenters were “shocked”. I don’t represent everybody, but I viewed the alleged event as being tasteless. Even if it was meant to be a joke. And what do you know about indy wrestling? And don’t give me some BS about it being a rite of passage.

  • Joe

    You guys don’t know anything about Indy wrestling if you’re shocked by this. Was anybody forced into this, I highly doubt it. This was all in fun, and I’m sure everybody involved was laughing their asses off over it.

  • Shay R.

    Yuck, that’s gross. Makes you wonder, what REALLY goes on behind the scenes?

  • Steve

    It did really happen. The photo was posted here yesterday in one of the stories.

  • Sam Peters

    I call bullshit on this, if this really happened then Vince would known bout it he would had fired him on the spot and would had never let Bill back in WWE for tough enough

    crap like this makes it hard to justify wrestling to non-fans. I once bragged to a friend “Kurt Angle is great” and he turned in for the first time ever – on my recommendation, and Kurt played that banjo thing, with stone cold “jimmy crap corn”.

    He never let me live it down and i haven’t recommended wwe to anyone since. I had a similar experience with mr. bob backlund in TNA and his porn gimmick showing up to ruin the day, of course katie vick and who can forget heidenrape? arrrgh. Vince, i hate you sometimes.

    You know when I hear about stuff like this, it’s hard to argue with people who say wrestling is gay. And really, is training really that bad compared to a naked dude rubbing his bare ass on your face?

  • kane

    @Stevie P

    I’ve seen lots of WCW. You’ve have to watch Zack Ryder’s youtube show a lot to understand that one.

  • Jimbo

    I wonder if anyone got a Genereal E. Rection from the incident…

  • undertaker

    Kane has watched WCW.

  • Stevie P

    @kane

    You obviously never watched any WCW.

  • kane

    “No laughing matter?” Are you serious bro?

  • Bawb

    And for Bill, this inappropriate conduct is certainly a “no laughing matter.”

    HAD TO, SORRY.
