Former WWE Employee and Friend of Billy Corgan’s Says He’s Involved In TNA Sale Talks

– Brett Buchanan of reports that Smashing Pumpkins frontman and Resistance Pro Wrestling owner Billy Corgan is the potential TNA buyer. Buchanan wrote the following this weekend:

“I have heard from a second hand source who is close to a key figure in the rumored TNA Wrestling sales discussions who has verified that Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is far along in his talks to purchase the company. This source went as far to say that he believes it is a “done deal” that Corgan will buy TNA, though the source didn’t know what percentage Corgan will be purchasing or the specifics of the deal. The source also says that Corgan has recently made a connection to somebody very wealthy, though it is not known if this party would have anything to do with the deal.”

In an update, former ECW Original and WWE employee Lou D’Angeli, who is a longtime friend of Corgan’s, wrote the following on Twitter last night:

“Is @billy set on buying @IMPACTWRESTLING??? I know he is pretty serious in at least partial, if not, majority ownership. #TNA”

Not sure how a weird old has-been rockstar who failed miserably in making The Smashing Pumpkins relevant again would be much of an improvement over the current owners.

This is a smart move. Corgan knows the wrestling business and I have all confidence he’ll bring in the right people to help take TNA to new heights.
5 PPVs a year- Final Resolution, Lockdown, Slammiversary, Destination X, BFG
5 Live TV Tapings- HJ, X-Travaganza, Knockout Knockdown, JW, TT Tournament
All Regular Impacts are taped at the Impact Zone
All 10 ppvs and tv specials are live in different cities
No live events in the US. Just tour internationally throughout the year.
Eventually create an all X-Division and Knockouts show for online webisodes
Build up the X-Division and Knockouts division as *must see tv* like it used to be

There you go Billy Corgan. You can thank me later.

I couldn’t think of any funny Smashing Pumpkins references or lyrics that had anything to do with wrestling

This is good news for TNA (which, if true, won’t be their name for much longer…. also good news!). Corgan loves the wrestling business, but also knows a lot about it (something Dixie Carter does not). He’ll bring in the right people and run the organization accordingly. Things are looking up for this ‘new’ company.
