WWE finally acquire full ownership of WarGames match name

WWE was somewhat bothered when MLW registered the WarGames name and held an event of their own in September. MLW is a smaller company and them using that WCW/NWA classic match doesn’t sit well with WWE as the company owns footage for many of those shows.

NXT has had two WarGames matches and MLW has held one as well, and this is definitely not wanted by WWE. So now they finally have acquired the rights.

PW Insider reports that WWE has fully acquired the rights to the War Games name. An agreement was reached and now WWE owns the trademarks. According to Mike Johnson, this has been confirmed by multiple sources.

Perhaps now the WarGames match might make its way to the main roster one day. Regardless, Major League Wrestling won’t be holding any more War Games matches anymore.
