WWE legend Nikolai Volkoff has, sadly, passed away, PWInsider revealed. He was 70 years old.
Volkoff had been in the hospital last week for dehydration, among other issues. He had been released just a few days ago.
Volkoff was probably best known for his run as one-half of the WWF tag team champions along with the Iron Sheik. The two captured the titles at the first WrestleMania, taking down Mike Rotunda and Barry Windham.
Volkoff was inducted into the 2005 Hall of Fame class, arguably the greatest induction class in WWE’s Hall of Fame. Volkoff was joined by the Iron Sheik, “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff, “Cowboy” Bob Orton, Jimmy Hart, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, and Hulk Hogan.
