Tonight’s show starts off with a look back at last week’s NXT Takeover: Rival show when we saw two new champions crowned. Kevin Owens defeated Sami Zayn by referee stoppage to become the new NXT Champion while Sasha Banks pinned Charlotte to become the new NXT Women’s Champion in a Fatal Four Way Match.
William Regal is in his office and he mentions that a new champion was crowned last week. In NXT, the championship can change by pinfall, submission, or ref stoppage. Owens may think he can do whatever he wants, but he cannot. Owens says he is a prize fighter and only fights for money. Regal says that Owens does not make the rules, he does. Owens will face Adrian Neville in a non-title match. Neville has not earned a title match, but he deserves a shot against the man who put him in the hospital.
We are in Winter Park, Florida and your announcers are Rich Brennan, Jason Albert, and Corey Graves.
The NXT Champion, Kevin Owens makes his way to the ring and he will have something to say.
Owens looks around and listens to chants for him and Sami Zayn. Kevin clears his throat and he says it seems that a lot of people have an issue with what he did at Takeover and how he won the NXT Title. Owens says those people have no right to be mad about anything because the fact is, he hasn’t lied or pretended to be anything he is not from the moment he came here. He made his intentions clear. He would fight anyone and everyone to make things for his family better and that is what he did.
Kevin says who he beats or how he beats them is irrelevant. What matters now is that Sami Zayn is the past. When you are done with the past, you look to the future. That is Finn Balor. Kevin tells Finn that he is well aware that he is the number one contender for HIS NXT Title. He tells Finn to go to William Regal and pick a date and he will be there. What happened at Takeover is going to happen to you because nobody is going to take this from him or his family.
Owens goes to the back and we see the announcers and they talk about Sami Zayn. They talk about how they are going to get an update tonight on his condition. The two new champions will be in action tonight.
Match Number One: Rhyno versus Elias Sampson
They lock up and Sampson with kicks but Rhyno with a kick and forearm followed by a belly-to-belly suplex. Rhyno sets for the GORE and he connects and gets the three count.
Winner: Rhyno
Finn Balor is in the back with Devin Taylor. She asks him about what Kevin said. Finn says that Kevin Owens is the new champion and he probably has a high opinion of himself. Finn says that he is the number one contender and he has a high opinion of himself and he will face Owens any time and any place. He is a prize fighter too.
Rhyno walks through the interview area and he walks away.
We go to commercial.
Enzo has some words for Gotch and English before the match. Cassady says they have had their title shots, so it is time for them to earn their title shot.
Match Number Two: Aiden English and Simon Gotch versus Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady (with Carmella)
Enzo and Gotch start things off and they lock up. Enzo with a side head lock but Gotch blocks a kick and English punches Enzo while Gotch distracts the referee. Gotch with a European uppercut and kicks. Gotch with a slam and English tags in and he kicks Enzo after Gotch hits an elbow drop. English gets a near fall. English with a front face lock.
English with a forearm and then he runs his forearm across Enzo’s face. English with punches to Enzo. Enzo with a punch but English stops Enzo from making the tag. Colin is tagged in and he connects with shoulder tackles and then he sends English into the turnbuckles and hits a side slam on Gotch.
Cassady with a splash to English in the corner and then Enzo gets sent into the turnbuckles and Cassady with a running boot. Enzo gets the three count.
Winners: Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady
After the match, Blake and Murphy appear on the HHHTron. They say that was good, but not good enough. Blake says they proved everyone wrong at Takevoer. Blake says that if Carmella wants to leave those sewer rats for some champions, go ahead.
Adrian Neville is stopped in the locker room and he is asked about getting a shot at Kevin Owens even though he lost last week. Adrian tells Greg that he had an opportunity to be the number one contender but he failed. It is hard to take, but in a weird way, it is a relief. In NXT, he is used to being hunted and now he gets to be the hunter. He can prioritize what is important to him and that is Kevin Owens.
He saw Kevin attack his friend last week. He reminds everyone about being taken out on a stretcher. Kevin will not forget what he will do to him tonight.
We go to comments from Bayley. She says she was in the ring with three of the best, but it was not her night. She promises that she will win the NXT Women’s Championship.
Becky Lynch says that the match last week was the biggest of her career. She came close to winning and it would have happened if it wasn’t for Bayley. She is happy that Sasha won, but super happy that Charlotte lost.
We go to commercial.
We are back and CJ Parker comes to the ring and he has a sign and some police tape. Parker wants his music turned off. He is sick and tired of this. You are going to have a special and he is not going to be on it? That is bull crap. He hates all of you people and he hates NXT. He is ending this show.
CJ says that he is taking this show hostage as he shows a sign that says that he is taking over the Takeovers. He uses the police tape.
The lights go out and there appears to be a glitch with the graphics.
Solomon Crowe comes to the ring and he attacks Parker. Crowe with a forearm and then he hits a springboard splash.
Crowe takes the mic and he says now you return to your regularly scheduled broadcast.
We go to commercial.
Match Number Three: Sasha Banks versus Leva “Blue Pants” Bates in a Non Title Match
Sasha doesn’t know what to think about the reaction to Leva. Sasha tells her to get out of her ring. Leva kicks Sasha through the ropes to the floor. Sasha yells at Leva and she returns to the ring and Leva with a drop toe hold and rollup for a near fall. Sasha punches Leva and slams her head into the mat. Sasha with a Jericho cover but the referee does not count because it was a choke.
Sasha with a surfboard but Leva with elbows and a backslide for a near fall. Sasha runs Leva into the turnbuckles and she puts Leva on the middle rope and she hits the double knee to the midsection and she pulls Leva up at two.
Sasha with the lungblower into the Bank Statement and Leva taps out.
Winner: Sasha Banks
After the match, Sasha is asked about being the NXT Women’s Champion. She takes the mic and she says it means that everyone . . . and she means everyone, including Becky, Bayley, and especially you Charlotte have to admit that she is the baddest Diva in NXT.
We see what happened after NXT Takeover: Rival went off the air. We see William Regal coming to the ring to check on Sami Zayn while the officials checked on him.
Dr. Amann gives an update on Sami’s condition. He mentions that as a precaution, Sami was given a CAT scan. He was allowed to go to Abu Dhabi, pursuant to his obligation and he is doing fine.

Match Number Four: Adrian Neville versus Kevin Owens in a Non Title Match
Owens goes to the floor when the bell rings but Neville follows and connects with forearms but Owens fires back. Owens misses a kick when Neville gets back into the ring and Neville with a head scissors and drop kick. Owens gets Neville on his shoulders for a gut buster followed by a back senton. Owens with punches to Neville.
Owens with an elbow drop and he chops Neville in the corner and he chokes Neville. Owens with more kicks and then he connects with an elbow to the head and he gets a near fall. Owens with more punches and forearms to Neville’s back. Neville with forearms but Owens with a short arm clothesline. Owens with a kick to Neville. Owens with a rear chin lock into a reverse chin lock.
Neville tries to get to his feet but Owens is able to use his body weight to keep Neville on the mat. Owens gets to his feet and so does Neville. Neville with forearms but Owens sends Neville over the top rope to the floor.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Owens with punches and forearms. Owens stands on the back of Neville’s neck and then he kicks him. Owens with a snap mare and kick to the back for a near fall. Owens with a reverse chin lock. Neville gets back to his feet and Neville with forearms. Owens with a knee and he sends Neville over the top rope but Neville lands on the apron.
Neville is caught by Owens and Owens tries for the F-Cinq but Neville counters with a DDT and both men are down. Owens gets up first and Neville with forearms but Owens fires back. Neville with a boot and forearms to Owens. Neville with chops and forearms. Neville with a flying forearm and spinning back heel kick and a series of additional kicks followed by a running boot to the head.
Owens goes to the floor and Neville goes to the apron. Neville kicks Owens away from the apron and then Neville goes up top and hits a moonsault onto Owens. Neville sends Owens back into the ring and he kicks Owens in the chest. Owens blocks the kick but Neville with an enzuigiri. Owens sends Neville to the apron and Neville with a springboard drop kick for a near fall.
Owens rolls to the floor. Neville with a baseball slide to the head. Neville goes back into the ring to break the count and then he hits a 450 splash off the apron onto Owens. Neville rolls Owens back into the ring and he gets a near fall. Owens has trouble breathing after the impact from the 450 splash. Neville waits for Owens to get up and Neville with a waist lock. Owens with an elbow.
Neville sends Owens into the ropes and he hits a German suplex followed by a kick to the head. Neville with a waist lock and he hits a deadlift German suplex for a near fall. Both men struggle to get back to their feet and Neville with a running European uppercut but Owens with a running back elbow. Owens charges into the corner but Neville with a super kick and reverse rana for a near fall.
Neville does not know how he did not win and then he pulls Owens into the corner and Neville goes up top for the Red Arrow but Owens moves and Owens hits the pop up power bomb for the three count.
Winner: Kevin Owens
