WWE SmackDown Live Results for 1/10/17

Here are the results from tonight’s (Tuesday, January 10, 2017) episode of WWE SmackDown Live (courtesy of PWInsider):

 


 

We begin this week’s show with a look back at Renee Young slapping Miz a few weeks ago when Miz opened the door about her relationship with Dean Ambrose.  We see how things escalated with the addition of Dean Ambrose and Maryse into the equation.

 We are in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and your announcers are Mauro Ranallo, David Otunga, and John Layfield.  Your host is Tom Philips.
 Dean Ambrose makes his way to the ring.

Dean welcomes everyone to the first Ambrose Asylum in 2017 and the first one hosted by the Intercontinental Champion.  Dean says he wants to be the first member of Smackdown Live, or the first champion to enter himself in the Royal Rumble match.  Dean says that since they are in Cajun Country, he was hoping for a live alligator, but they don’t have the permits.  Dean shows the Gator head he got at the gas station and he calls it Maryse.

Since he cannot interview an inanimate object, he will deal with the next best option.

Miz interrupts his introduction by Dean and he makes his way to the ring with his wife Maryse.

Miz says that each day you carry his title, Dean taints the prestige and hard work he put into restoring the former glory of that title.  Now you are going to taint the integrity of the Royal Rumble match?  Miz says he will not let him.  Miz announces that he is officially entering the Royal Rumble match.

Miz says his title was stolen from him last week.  The match should have been stopped due to outside interference, but you coerced the referee to continue the match.  Miz says that before he sues Dean and makes him incur legal fees, he will let Dean do the right thing and hand over the Intercontinental Title.

Dean thinks about it and he tells Miz he is right.  He has something that belongs to Miz and he will give it back to him.

Miz says that Dean came to his senses.  People say he is unhinged but Miz says he disagrees.  Dean is a sensible guy and he will do the right thing.

Dean gives Miz his Participation Award.  Dean says you tried and Dean applauds his effort.

Miz says people say that Dean is not funny, but he is a funny guy.  Miz tosses the award back at Dean and Miz attacks Dean and punches him.  Miz holds Dean for Maryse but Dean ducks and Maryse slaps her husband.  Dean with a kick and double underhook DDT.

Dean hands the Participation Award to Maryse and she takes it as Dean leaves the ring.

Tom mentions that we will see Nikki Bella versus Natalya tonight and we have a video package.

Nikki Bella walks in the back but she is attacked from behind by Natalya and sent into the gate.  Nikki holds her leg and Natalya says she will see her in the ring.

We go to commercial.

Match Number One:  Nikki Bella versus Natalya

Nikki attacks Natayla when she gets into the ring and Natalya goes to the floor.  Nikki takes Natalya down and she punches Natalya.  They exchange punches.  Natalya sends Nikki into the ringside barrier and she punches Nikki.  Natalya sends Nikki into the ring and she kicks Nikki in the face.  The referee tries to separate the women.

Natalya goes to the floor again and she tries to get into the crowd but Nikki pulls her off the ringside barrier.  Nikki sends Natalya to the floor.  They return to the ring and Nikki with punches as the referee calls for help.

More referees come to the ring to try to separate them.  They pull them apart, but just like any wrestling situation, they let one get loose and Nikki attacks Natalya.  Natalya goes after the knee and she sends Nikki to the floor.  Natalya with a Sharpshooter.

We go to the interview area for Dolph Ziggler.  

We take a look at Ziggler’s actions last week against Kalisto and Apollo Crews.

Dolph is asked for an explanation before his match. 

Dolph looks around and says nothing before walking away.

Match Number One:  Kalisto versus Dolph Ziggler

Kalisto with kicks and a head scissors that sends Ziggler to the floor.  Ziggler returns to the ring and he goes for the leg and he takes Kalisto down.  Ziggler gets a near fall.  Kalisto with a wrist lock.  Ziggler with a rollup for a near fall.  Ziggler with a side head lock and knee followed by a neck breaker for a near fall.  Ziggler with an arm bar and he tries to apply a crossface, but he gets a near fall with a rollup.   Kalisto punches Ziggler but Ziggler with a knee.  Kalisto with a backslide for a near fall.  Ziggler with a clothesline.  Ziggler with a kick but he misses a Fameasser.  Kalisto with a kick and Irish whip.

Ziggler sends Kalisto to the apron.  Kalisto with an enzuigiri but Ziggler knocks Kalisto off the ropes to the floor when Kalisto goes for a springboard move.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Ziggler with a bow and arrow.  Ziggler with a reverse chin lock.  Kalisto with a jaw breaker and elbow but Ziggler with a kick.  Kalisto with a kick and head scissors.  Ziggler has a thrust kick blocked and Kalisto with a rollup for a near fall.  Ziggler with a drop kick for a near fall and then Kalisto takes advantage of a lazy cover and Kalisto with a crucifix for the three count.

Winner:  Kalisto

After the match, Ziggler clotheslines Kalisto during his celebration.  Dolph punches Kalisto.  Ziggler takes a chair and he brings it into the ring.  He hits Kalisto with the chair.

Ziggler leaves and as he heads up the ramp, Apollo Crews comes out and he punches Ziggler and sends him into the ring.  Ziggler kicks Crews as he comes into the ring and Ziggler punches Crews and then he gets the chair and hits Crews in the ribs and back with the chair.  Ziggler hits Crews in the back with the chair and then he sees Kalisto trying to get back to his feet and Ziggler hits Kalisto in the back with the chair.

Ziggler leaves the ring again and he heads up the ramp and goes to the back.

Jason Jordan and Chad Gable are asked about their match against the Wyatt Family.

Jason says Orton is one of the toughest.  Bray thinks he is the Alpha and Omega, but Jason says that with the belts, they are the only alphas.  Chad says they are ready to go to war.  They will beat the Wyatts again.  Jason says it does not matter if you are a God, a serpent, or whatever Luke is you cannot beat them.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Renee Young is with John Cena.  Renee asks John about Baron Corbin making a statement at his expense.

John says that Baron has run through everything in the WWE.  John says he needs to make a statement tonight.  Last week AJ Styles called him a has been last week and Baron agreed.  John says he agrees with them.  It has been a long time since John Cena has fought to prove himself.  These new era chumps are running their mouths and believe their hype.  John says he is going to make a point.  AJ Styles will get a taste of what will happen to him at the Royal Rumble.

The Wyatt Family appears and Bray tells American Alpha that he hopes they have enjoyed their time as champions because nothing lasts forever.  Bray ‘knocks’ at the screen and Randy Orton says they’re here.

Match Number Two:  Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton (with Luke Harper) versus Chad Gable and Jason Jordan for the Smackdown Brand Tag Titles

Wyatt and Gable start things off and Wyatt with punches and a head butt.  Jordan makes the tag and he hits a drop kick.  Gable drop kicks Orton out of the ring and Jordan gets a near fall.  Jordan with shoulders in the corner and he takes Wyatt to the mat and gets a near fall.  Jordan with a front face lock and a near fall.  Wyatt backs Jordan into the corner and Wyatt punches Jordan and Orton kicks him.  Orton with forearms to the back.  Orton with an elbow to escape the waist lock.  Gable tags in and hits a double leg take down into a waist lock.  Orton with an elbow followed by a European uppercut.

Wyatt tags in and he punches Gable and runs his face across the top rope.  Gable with an arm bar in the ropes.  Gable comes off the turnbuckles and Wyatt catches him.  Gable escapes a uranage and Sister Abigail.  Gable with a senton onto Wyatt from the apron.  Wyatt with a cross body and he gets a near fall.  Orton tags in and sends Gable to the floor.  Orton follows and hits a series of back drop drivers onto the ringside barrier.  They return to the ring and Orton gets a near fall.  Orton with the Garvin Stomp and Wyatt tags in and he kicks Gable.

Wyatt with a swinging gutbuster for a near fall.  Orton tags in and he hits a slingshot suplex for a near fall.  Orton with a boot to the back and he tags Wyatt back in and he kicks Gable. Gable with a jaw breaker and Jordan tags in and he hits a running forearm to Wyatt and Orton.  Jordan with an Exploder to Wyatt followed by a Saito suplex on Orton.  Jordan with a shoulder to Orton and then one to Wyatt for a near fall.  Jordan goes up top and Harper distracts Jordan and Wyatt hits Jordan from behind.  Orton drops Jordan on the top rope and Jordan falls to the floor as we go to commercial.

We are back and Orton with a side head lock on Jordan as we see what happened before the break.  Orton keeps Jordan from making the tag and he runs his boot against Jordan’s face.  Orton rakes the eyes and he tags in Wyatt.  Wyatt with a splash on Jordan and he gets a near fall.  Wyatt with a back senton and he gets a near fall.  Wyatt with punches.  Wyatt sends Jordan into the turnbuckles.  Wyatt runs into a clothesline from Jordan.  Orton and Gable tag in and Gable with a cross body and a Northern Lights suplex.  Gable punches Orton and then hits a crossbody onto Wyatt.  Gable with a hesitation German suplex for a near fall.  Wyatt sends Jordan to the floor.  Gable drops down and Wyatt goes over the top rope.

Gable with a forearm and then he goes up top for a clothesline and he gets a near fall.  Harper gets on the apron and Orton with a thumb to the eyes.  Orton knocks Harper off the apron as he sets for the IEDDT.  Orton looks around and he twists to the mat to set up for the RKO.  Harper gets on the apron and the referee and Orton get distracted.  Gable with an O’Connor Roll for the three count.

Winners:  Chad Gable and Jason Jordan

After the match, Harper gets in the ring and Orton yells at him.  Harper and Orton push each other.  Wyatt pulls Orton and Harper aside and keeps them from doing anything else.  Harper accidentally super kicks Wyatt and Bray goes down.

Wyatt looks around and he walks between Luke and Randy.  Bray tells Orton to make him.  Harper tells Orton to do something.  Wyatt leaves the ring.  Harper follows after Wyatt.

We have a video package from Baron Corbin.  He says he hunts tonight and his prey is John Cena.  Hustle, loyalty, respect?  How about pain, humiliation, and annihilation.  Mr. Never Give Up will be beaten up.  Tonight will be your end of days.

John Cena talks about his return from injury at the 2008 Royal Rumble.

We go to commercial.

We are back and we see the announcement that Wrestlemania 34 will be in New Orleans in 2018.

We see Becky Lynch showing Daniel Bryan what happened last week.  Daniel wants to know who the other La Luchadora is.  Daniel suggests it is Eva. 

Alexa enters and she knows what Becky is trying to do.  Alexa says that Becky is trying to get a title match due to some miscommunication.  Alexa says she was going undercover trying to find out the identity of La Luchadora.

Daniel says he does not know who La Luchadora is.  He knows that Alexa tapped out to Becky so next week Alexa will defend the title against Becky Lynch.

Daniel says that next week’s title match will be inside a steel cage.

Becky is happy and Alexa scoffs as she leaves the office.

Match Number Three:  Carmella (with James Ellsworth) versus CJ Lunde

They lock up and Carmella with a take down using the hair.  Carmella with a shoulder tackle.  Carmella with a kick to the midsection and she grabs Lunde’s hair.  Carmella kicks Lunde in the corner.  Carmella with a Bronco Buster for a near fall.  Carmella runs Lunde into the corner and connects with shoudlers.  Lunde with an elbow and Carmella misses a charge into the corner.  Lunde with an elbow.  Lunde with an Irish whip and a running elbow into the corner.  Ellsworth grabs Lunde’s leg and Carmella with a forearm and a near fall.  

Lunde with punches and then Carmella goes to the floor and Lunde follows.  Ellsworth keeps Lunde on the floor.  Carmella with a flatline into the Code of Silence and Lunde taps out.

Winner:  Carmella

We take a look at the return of the Undertaker to Raw and his announcement about the Royal Rumble.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Carmella is with James Ellsworth and she says she has a surprise for her.  James says he has been waiting for this for 32 years.  Carmella will take James on a shopping spree next week.

Baron Corbin is asked about John Cena’s comment.  Baron says John has claimed his time is now and he is a man of his word.  Tonight, he makes John Cena a liar.  It is not his glory days, it is his end of days.

AJ Styles shows up and he tells Baron tonight is his night.

AJ says he will be on commentary tonight and he tells Baron to do his best AJ Styles imitation and BEAT JOHN CENA.

Match Number Four:  Baron Corbin versus John Cena

Corbin and Cena pace around the ring before locking up.  Corbin misses a punch and Cena with a punch.  Cena with more punches but Corbin with a boot to the head.  Corbin with a hard Irish whip.  Corbin sends Cena to the floor in front of the announce table and we go to commercial.

We are back and Corbin with a front face lock and Cena gets Corbin on his shoulders but Cena falls to the mat.  Corbin with punches and Corbin looks at Styles.  Corbin goes to the floor and he makes his way to the announce table.  Corbin’s distraction allows Cena to recover and he punches Corbin.  Corbin with forearms against the ringside barrier.  Corbin sends Cena back into the ring and Corbin has something to say to Styles.

Corbin charges at Cena and Cena drops down, sending Corbin over the top rope to the floor.  Cena with a double sledge off the apron.  Corbin with a punch and then he charges at Cena but Cena pulls himself into the ring and Corbin hits the ring steps.  Corbin catches Cena and hits a standing power slam for a near fall.  Corbin argues with the referee about his count.  Corbin asks Cena if he has anything left.  Cena blocks a punch and he connects with punches.  Corbin with a Bossman Slam for a near fall.  Corbin with a running punch to the head.  

Cena with punches but Corbin catches Cena and applies a bear hug.  Cena escapes the hold and Corbin kicks Cena into the corner.  Corbin slides to the floor and he misses a clothesline.  Cena with boots to Corbin followed by a tornado DDT.  Cena with a Blue Thunder Bomb and a Five Knuckle Shuffle.  Cena with an Attitude Adjustment for the three count.

Winner:  John Cena

After the match, Styles gets up from his seat at the announce table and he gets on the announce table and shows Cena he is the champion.

We go to credits.
