WWE SmackDown Report – 4/16/15

WWE Smackdown on SyFy
Taped on Tuesday in London, England

[Q1] The Smackdown intro played and Michael Cole welcomed us to the arena. John Cena’s music hit immediately and he headed out to the ring as a clip played of his match with Wade Barrett and ambush by Rusev. Cole then explained that Rusev and Cena would meet in a Russian Chain Match at Extreme Rules.

Cena thanked the London crowd for bringing a lot of energy to Raw. He then explained the basic rules of a chain match, where two competitor are locked together and much touch all four corners to win. Cena said that match may not even involve him, because every week he will continue to issue an open challenge. He then said enough about Raw and enough about Extreme Rules, because it was time for an open challenge.

Cesaro and Kidd walked out and answered the challenge. They rattled off a bunch of facts about Cena, about how crowds are tired of him, and desperately want to not be able to see him. They said the crowds want to see the greatest champions in the WWE, and not Cena. Cena said if one of them wants to step up, then lets throw down right now. Daniel Bryan interrupted and said he heard talk about the greatest champions in WWE. He asked the crowd if Kidd and Cesaro were the greatest champions in WWE, and they shouted no. He asked the same about John Cena to a mixed reaction, and then asked if he was the most handsome man in the WWE….and got a mixed reaction.

Bryan said if they thought they were the greatest, they should take on the US Champion and the Intercontinental Champion, and got a huge yes chant. Kidd and Cesaro agreed, and we have our Main Event. Cole plugged Neville vs. Sheamus, which was “requested” by Neville. They then plugged a video package regarding Orton and Rollins, and said Bray Wyatt was next…[c]

[Q2] R-Truth was in the ring awaiting his beating. Bray Wyatt then made his entrance.

1. Bray Wyatt vs. R-Truth: Truth got in some early offense, but Wyatt took over after Truth missed an Axe kick and hit a cross body. After a Sister Abigail, it was lights out.

Bray Wyatt defeated R-Truth at 2:09.

Cole introduced footage of the Divas Battle Royal from Monday that Paige won, and the Naomi attack from afterwards. They gave a phoney baloney injury report and said Paige was advised not to compete until further notice. An interview was shown with Roman Reigns from WWE.com. The snippet they showed was the response to Big Show saying that he was going to keep knocking down Roman Reigns until he learns not to get up. Reigns said he better have his cardio in order, because he wasn’t going to stay down.

The Miz was in the ring for a promo. He said last Monday Night Mizdow got lucky and it would never happen again. Miz claimed Mizdow is nothing without The Miz, because he made him who he is because that’s what he does. He makes things. Before Miz could get too far along complimenting himself, Bad News Barrett interrupted. Barrett said we aren’t in his wretched Hollywood anymore, they are in London. The people came to see the man from the UK, the man who would crush the Yes Movement and become a six time intercontinental champion at Extreme Rules.

2. Wade Barrett vs. The Miz: Miz played to the crowd and then turned around into a Bull Hammer Elbow. Barrett covered for the three.

Bad News Barrett defeated The Miz at 0:26.

Neville vs. Sheamus was advertised for later, and the Rollins and Orton package was advertised for next…[c]

[Q3] Raw Rebound for Rollins and Orton was shown that recapped the story of the show from Monday. After the video, we saw Mizdow and Summer Rae with Renee Young. Mizdow talked about the weather getting warmer and the sun shining. It felt like a bright Summer….Rae.

Miz walked into the picture and said Monday was a fluke and he wanted a rematch. He told him to stop using his name, likeness, entrance music, etc. Mizdow started mimicking the Miz again and challenged him to a match for the use of The Miz name and likeness. Miz accepted, and insulted Summer Rae. She slapped him, and Miz walked off. Mizdow said that was awesome. In the arena, Sheamus made his entrance…[c]

[Q4] Neville made his ring entrance and looked pissed off. Sheamus had a mic and told Neville he thought he would be taller. He told Neville he was a tiny little man just like Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan and all the other undersized superstars. He said he was from Ireland, the real Ireland, and where he comes from they don’t like you English bastards.

3. Sheamus vs. Neville: Sheamus got in some blows early, but Neville hit some leg kicks and head scissored Sheamus right out of the ring. He followed up with a plancha and then tossed Sheamus back in the ring. Neville climbed up top, but Sheamus rolled to the outside. Neville gave chase but got caught in a tilt-a-whirl slam on the floor…[c]

Sheamus locked in a reverse chin lock and hit a knee lift to prevent Neville’s escape. He then hit a release Vertical Suplex followed by an Irish Curse Backbreaker. Neville avoided Sheamus as he came into the corner for a spear, and Sheamus collided with the post. Neville hit a series of kicks and the crowd fired up. He then hit a standing moonsault for a two count. Sheamus set up for his clubs to the chest, but Neville elbowed out. Sheamus attempted a Brogue Kick, but Neville avoided it and kicked Sheamus in the back of the knee.

Neville hit a springboard splash and a kick to the side of the head. He followed up with a phoenix splash from the second rope for a near fall. He climbed up top for the Red Arrow, but Sheamus crotched him. Sheamus went for White Noise, but Neville escaped into a Victory Roll for a two count. He followed up with two enziguris that sent Sheamus to the outside. Neville attemped to dive on him, but Sheamus caught him and tossed him onto the announce table for a DQ.

Neville defeated Sheamus via DQ at 13:22.

[Q5] After the bell, Sheamus tossed Neville back in the ring and stomped away at him. Dolph Ziggler ran down and cleared out Sheamus. He grabbed mic and said not only do the english not like him, but neither do the German, Dutch, Welsh, Millenials, Bronies, and not even the Irish. Sheamus told Ziggler that he could kiss his arse. Ziggler said that comeback was weak, even for Sheamus. Sheamus said he meant that literally, and that in two weeks at Extreme Rules they would have a kiss me arse match. Ziggler said he didn’t know or care, but he wants any match. In two weeks he will grind him, pull him and stretch him until he kissed his own arse. Daniel Bryan and John Cena were shown “strategizing” backstage.

Los Matadores were already in the ring with El Torito. The New Day then made their entrance and got booed. Big E said they were there to bring sunshine and light to foggy London. Kofi told the crowd that they would clap on even though people tell them they suck. Xavier Woods then told the crowd that they should make today their New Day to no reaction.

4. New Day (Kofi and Big E) vs. Los Matadores: Kofi started against Fernando. Kofi dominated early, but Fernando was able to get a break and tag out to Diego. It didn’t help, as New Day dominated the offense and won with a double team move a moment later. Big E covered Diego for the pin.

New Day defeated Los Matadoes at 2:01.

After the match, a video clip of the crowd Fandangoing from Raw. Fandango was shown backstage telling Rosa it was the end of the road. Adam Rose and the Rosebuds were shown walking past, and Adam Rose stopped by Rosa and told her if she made the right moves that she could be number one in a certain somebody’s life. Big Show as shown walking towards the ring backstage…[c]

Big Show walked out onto the top of the ramp. He said Raw made it painfully obvious to him that people from England suck. He called himself the greatest Giant in history, and that no one in the world can stop him. Show mentioned Roman Reigns gained some respect from the fans at WrestleMania, but he didn’t gain any respect from him. Reigns called him out on Raw and disrespected him, because he doesn’t answer to him. He answers to the Authority, and when they say jump he says how high.

Show then detailed with video clips how he threw Reigns into the car a few times and chokeslammed him into the roof. He said Reigns refused to stay down, and just like the crowds, he doesn’t understand that you can’t beat a giant. Show sat on top of the car, and said he thought the chokeslam would be it for Reigns, but during the break he got back up again. Footage was shown of Reigns as he limped to the backstage area. Show said he was stumbling around like someone from England looking for a toothbrush yukyukyuk. Show then said at Extreme Rules, he would face Roman Reigns in a last man standing match. WHen he gets done with him, Reigns won’t be the last man standing….respect that.

The announce team plugged the main event. Alicia Fox, Natalya, and Cameron were advertised for a triple threat next…[c]

[Q7] Natalya made her entrance. Alicia Fox and Cameron were already in the ring. Footage of the match between Alicia and Natalya from last week was shown…[c]

5. Natalya vs. Alicia Fox vs. Cameron: Cameron took a powder early and mostly just entered in spurts. Nattie went for a sharpshooter early but Alicia escaped. Natty got pulled to the outside by Cameron and sent into the barricade. Cameron and Alicia Fox tumbled awkwardly for a bit. All three women did a stack up spot in the corner, and then Alicia and Nattie tried to cover Cameron but the pinfalls were broken up. Cameron and Nattie traded rollups for two counts. Nattie applied the sharpshooter on Cameron, but Alicia broke it up. She then applied the hold on Alicia, but Cameron broke it up. Alicia hit a scissor kick on Nattie, but Cameron sent her to the outside and covered Nattie for the win.

Cameron defeated Nattie and Alicia at 4:39.

Fandango made his entrance. Adam Rose was already in the ring.

6. Adam Rose vs. Fandango: We got some fandangoing early on from the crowd. Fandango hit a nice dropkick and clotheslined Adam Rose over the top rope. He hit a splash over the top rope. Rosa interfered and got in Fandango’s face. Adam Rose thanked her and took it to Fandango in the ring. Rosa jumped up on the apron and attempted to talk to Fandango, but ended up costing Adam Rose the match. Fandango celebrated with the crowd after the match.

Fandango defeated Adam Rose at 1:38.

Backstage, Bray Wyatt asked what happens when it all just fades away. Dedication can only take you so far, because eventually you will only be left with only with your own regret. Be more careful, my friend, because the reaper walks in the daylight.

[Q8] After the promo, Daniel Bryan headed to the ring. He was followed by John Cena…[c]

The announce team plugged Triple H’s announcement in regards to Tough Enough for Monday. Cesaro and Kidd made their entrance. The Fan interruption was cut from the show as expected.

7. Kidd and Cesaro vs. Daniel Bryan and John Cena: Cena and Kidd started, and Cena overpowered him and shoved him back into his own corner. Cesaro tagged in, and they did a test of strength in the middle of the ring. They went to a stalemate, until Cena broke and pulled in a chinlock. Cesaro hit some strikes and tagged in Kidd, who missed an apron leg drop that bought Cena some time. Kidd got to his corner fast enough and prevented Cena from making a tag. Cesaro hit Bryan with a cheap shot to send him to the floor, and then hit Cena with a t-bone suplex.

Cena bought himself some time, but Kidd yanked Bryan off the apron to prevent a tag. Cena applied an STF, but Kidd broke it up while the ref was distracted. Cesaro tagged in Kidd, who tried to take a shot at Bryan, but it backfired. Cena made a hot tag after a back body drop on Kidd, and Bryan lit him up with kicks. He then hit a top rope hurricanrana, followed by more kicks. Cesaro tried to interfere, but he ate some kicks himself. Bryan set up for the running knee on Kidd, but Nattie jumped up on the apron. Bryan tried to get her down, but Kidd charged and bumped into her. Cesaro caught her at ringside as Bryan applied the Yes Lock. Cesaro tried to break the hold, but Cena hit him with an AA. Kidd eventually tapped.
