WWE spoils title change at UK Championship Tournament tapings

Along with the UK Championship Tournament, with the UK’s best vying for a chance at Pete Dunne’s United Kingdom Championship, there were also a handful of other title matches that took place at Royal Albert Hall. One match, the NXT Tag Team Championship match, was spoiled by the WWE before they had a chance to air the tournament.

The Undisputed Era has been one of the hottest acts to appear on NXT. With Bobby Fish injured and some shenanigans that took place in New Orleans, Roddy Strong found himself among the group, teaming with Kyle O’Reilly as a tag team champion.

The Undisputed Era has been feuding with the UK’s Pete Dunne lately, with Dunne doing everything he can to get his hands around the throat of Roderick Strong. However, when he was betrayed by the Messiah of the Backbreaker at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, Dunne quickly let the Undisputed Era know that he wouldn’t be alone in his crusade.

While Dunne has been working with Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch recently, Dunne has repeatedly posted pictures on Instagram of him and his British Strong Style partners, and it was eventually revealed that Mustache Mountain would challenge UE for the tag titles at the United Kingdom Championship Tournament tapings.

The UK Championship Tournament took place over June 18 and 19, but won’t air on the WWE Network until June 25 and 26. However, the WWE already revealed the winners of one of the title matches a week in advance.

WWE said to see how the change happened next week but knowing ahead of time that the change is coming probably not the best way to bring viewers in. It happened before, but this isn’t the Rock vs Mankind.

Were you planning on watching the tournament? Did finding out about this title change make you want to tune in more next week?
