We noted before that WWE Officials were reportedly upset with Baron Corbin due to his twitter battles and his poor performance on the mic during his confrontations with John Cena.
All this was said to be the reason why WWE pulled the plug on Baron Corbin’s push, though now it appears that the comments of a top WWE superstar also went against Corbin.
During his recent appearance on the WrestlingInc Podcast, Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated revealed that John Cena told officials that the former NXT Star wasn’t ready:
“I heard the kiss of death was Cena, [Cena said] that Corbin wasn’t ready. I can’t say any more right now, that’s kind of what I’m trying to work on as we speak.”
It’s worth noting here that a similar incident happened with Dolph Ziggler where Cena wasn’t impressed with the performance of Dolph during their initial feud and as a result WWE never pushed Ziggler as a main event star.
Seeing the events of SmackDown Live this week, it appears Baron will be entering a feud with AJ Styles for the United States Championship, though considering his heat, it’s not very likely that he will win the title.
