WWE Studios is expected to announce this week that they will be partnering with Warner Bros. to create an animated DVD film based on the Flintstones cartoon series. The concept is for WWE superstars to appear in the cartoon as their prehistoric selves, including John Cena and CM Punk.
Of course, WWE already has a loose affiliation with the Flintstones through John Cena’s work with Fruity Pebbles cereal.
This is WWE Studios second partnership with a classic cartoon franchise, with a Scooby Doo WrestleMania movie slated for a 2014 release. That film, which will feature voiceovers from Vince McMahon, Triple H and others, has the following synopsis (via IMDB.com):
“When Shaggy and Scooby win tickets to WrestleMania, the entire gang travels in the Mystery Machine to WWE City to attend the epic event. However, when a mysterious ghostly bear appears and threatens to ruin the show, Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred work with WWE Superstars to solve the case.”
