WWE teases CM Punk comeback with intriguing video

WWE posted a video on its official YouTube channel teasing a possible return of CM Punk. The video in and of itself is intriguing since it features Punk take on a man whom he’d accused of stealing his spotlight during his time with WWE, ergo Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

CM Punk rose to prominence in the WWE after winning the Money In The Bank ladder match at Wrestlemania 24, and would go on to become one of the most beloved anti-heroes in the history of professional wrestling. He parted ways with WWE and pro-wrestling in 2014, citing injury and concussion issues sustained over the course of his 15-year career.

Punk competed in his first, and what is to date his only, MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) bout last year, losing to Mickey Gall at UFC 203. He has since appeared on MTV’s reality show The Challenge.

Although the 37-year old has repeatedly shot down the proposition of returning to professional wrestling over the course of the past 3 years, the offers seem to keep pouring in for the former WWE champion, what with British promotion 5 Star Wrestling offering him a staggering $1 million to return.

Nevertheless, the WWE and CM Punk himself have been mum as regards a potential comeback for the Straight Edge Superstar. That is until the WWE teased a Punk comeback in a video it recently posted-

CM Punk is still contracted to the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) last having competed in the promotion’s Welterweight (170 pound) division. His departure from WWE was by no means cordial, per se, with severe accusations being levied by both sides on one another.

Regardless, with that being said, this is after all professional wrestling, and when it comes to the WWE- Never say ‘never’. If Bret Hart can return to WWE after the Montreal Screwjob, who’s to say CM Punk won’t? Imagine the pop when the Cult of Personality hits! That’s gold right there, folks!
