WWE has announced that the current WWE United Kingdom Champion Tyler Bate will be defending his UK championship against Pete Dunne during the upcoming NXT Takeover: Chicago event.
WWE had previously announced that Pete Dunne will take on Trent Seven in a #1 contender’s match this past Sunday on the second night of taping for their upcoming Network exclusive show.
The announcement for the championship match was made via a tweet by WWE’s official twitter handle after Dunne successfully defeated his opponent during the tapings as seen below:

This match is certainly a valuable addition to the card of the upcoming NXT event. Here is the updated line-up for the show after the latest announcement of the UK Championship match:
- NXT Championship – Bobby Roode (c) vs. Hideo Itami
- NXT Women’s Championship –Â Asuka (c) vs. Ember Moon vs. Ruby Riot vs. Nikki Cross –
- NXT Tag Team Championship Ladder match – Authors of Pain (c) vs. DIY
- WWE UK Championship – Tyler Bate (c) vs. Pete Dunne
It’s interesting to note here these two opponents faced each other during the finals of WWE UK Tournament. So it’s a huge rematch between the two athletes which fans will get to see later this month.
After the addition of this bout, the card for NXT Takeover is already looking quite impressive. Although a couple of more matches are expected to be added to the card in the upcoming weeks.
