The WWE have been on a signing spree as of late which has seen the NXT roster populated with talent along with the main roster. The company are in talks with Matt Riddle having already signed several indie stars such as Ricochet, Keith Lee and the War Raiders this year.
Dave Meltzer stated on the Wrestling Observer that the reason behind these signings is to avoid the talent from joining their rivals. Meltzer said:
“Well, they do. It’s just that they want to keep people that have potential, away from other companies. And if you’re a good athlete or something, you know, they want to give a lot of people a chance if they’ve got the right look and the right athletic ability.”
Despite WWE’s dominance in the pro-wrestling circuit ever since the demise of WCW, the company is on their toes when it comes to signing talents from the independent circuit.
