Zelina Vega out with concussion suffered at WWE Evolution

As WWE crossed the ocean to host this week’s edition of RAW and SmackDown in Manchester, England, Zelina Vega was not present in her client Andrade Cien Almas’ corner during his bout against Rey Mysterio.

According to PWInsider, Vega suffered the concussion at WWE Evolution during the spot where she was eliminated by Nia Jax in the battle royal. While the concussion has not been confirmed by the WWE Authorities, Vega is kept out of action for the time being. Moreover, as a safety measure, the star is not included in the current tour.

Zelina Vega posted a tweet regarding her absence on SmackDown Live.

Seth performed a “buckle bomb”, but on the outside barricade and Balor, hit the barracade and that’s how he hurt his shoulder and had to vacant the Universal title.

  • Kristopher Robinson

How else was he to support himself….?! And it wasnt any bodies fault, it was an accident.

  • Keith Learmonth

I mean, I made it clear in the first comment that I’m not a big fan of Nia.

I just don’t like this culture in the IWC of blaming wrestlers for injuries just because you don’t like the wrestler, when the fault, if there is any, is almost always somewhere else.

Happened with Nia, happened with people saying Rousey broke Bliss’ arm, even though she’s out with a head injury, happened with people blaming Kane for Daniel Bryan’s neck injury, even though Daniel has stated multiple times that it was already injured, and he was trying to work through it.

  • Wicka Steve

I don’t know why you keep posting. You love Nia for some reason and I will never change my mind about her being reckless and having no business in the ring.

  • Keith Learmonth

She didn’t need to stand around for two minutes. Could’ve spent 1:45 preparing for the spot by getting into position, 15 seconds standing, watching. It’s literally basic wrestling. Something wrestlers do all the time, without opponents needing to cover for someone being out of position… and given that she was just standing there looking, how’s Nia meant to know she’s not ready?

  • Wicka Steve

She could always improvise something, like rubbing her legs or yelling at Nia. Standing around for an extra ten seconds is a lot less noticeable than standing around for two minutes..

  • Keith Learmonth

Which would’ve left Tamina uselessly standing around on the floor while they did that, like you just said she shouldn’t do.

  • Wicka Steve

You don’t throw someone if the other person isn’t ready, that’s just being reckless. If Tamina wasn’t ready, Nia should have told Zelina to thumb her in the eye to get down and reset the spot.

  • Keith Learmonth

I mean, what, was Nia meant to pull a 2002 Rico Survivor Series? “Come on Tamina, Damn it!”, because she wasn’t ready for a spot she had about two minutes to get in position for? ‘Cause then you’d just be complaining about her audibly calling spots, instead. Or was she meant to just stand around awkwardly, so you could complain about how she made the spot too obvious? Like, there’s three ways it could’ve gone, with Tamina where she was, and all three, people would use to say Nia was at fault somehow, even though it was clearly Tamina who didn’t get in position for a spot she -knew- was coming.

  • Wicka Steve

It would not have made sense for Tamina to get up right away as soon as she was eliminated. She needed to sell the elimination and that way be able to justify why she was still out there. Was Tamina perfect? No, but Nia is to blame for tossing Zelina when Tamina was clearly not ready. But then with you being a mark for Nia, I don’t expect you to ever say anything against her.

  • Keith Learmonth

I’m talking about the time between Tamina’s elimination, and Nia eliminating Vega. Tamina had that whole time to be ready for the spot, and would’ve then had a further 15 seconds to see Nia come over to the ropes. If she couldn’t get ready to catch her in that time, that’s still all on Tamina.

Look at the cruiserweights, they can be clotheslined out of the ring, and be standing, ready to catch an opponent diving over the top in seconds… but Tamina can’t get into position in minutes?

Although, seriously, watch the footage. Tamina doesn’t even attempt to put her arms up or catch Vega in any way.

  • Wicka Steve

I literally rewatched this yesterday. The amount of time between when Nia picks up Zelina off her back and chucks her out of the ring is less than 15 seconds.

  • stephen mccord

Oh you mean when balor put his arm behind his back when he took the power bomb on the barricade? That’s Finn’s fault, not Seth’s.

  • Keith Learmonth

Tamina should’ve been ready for it. There was plenty of time.
Ember Moon eliminated Tamina, Zelina got back in the ring and tried to eliminate both Moon and Jax after they fought for a while, both managed to get back in, then Jax eliminated Vega. It was probably a solid 2 minutes at least. If Tamina needs 2 minutes to stand up off the ground and get into position, that still puts her at fault.

  • Wicka Steve

Never saw that match. What happened?

  • Kristopher Robinson

When he destroyed Balors shoulder during there Universal title match….

  • Soulshroude

    Who hasn’t Rollin’s injured? Sting, Balor, Cena…

  • Wicka Steve

When did he injure Cena and Balor? And you can hardly count Sting. That’s like injuring Taker. Sting is should have been smart enough to know not to take that move at his age.

  • Rajah

Cena, Sting, Balor. That’s all I can think of for now.

  • Wicka Steve

    Who has Rollins injured?

  • Wicka Steve

I rewatched it and while Tamina didn’t catch Zelina, I’m not sure Tamina was even ready for the spot. It looked like Nia just picked Zelina up and tossed her less than ten seconds later. I don’t think Tamina even had enough time to get ready for the spot.

  • CC

Yeah, which is why I am confused that Bliss has pretty much been present in some form or another since receiving hers, and with the time she has been on the shelf, it cannot be a minor one.

Surely Bliss should be at home resting as well, regardless of how severe it is compared to Vegas.

  • Soulshroude

The female version of Seth Rollin, I’d imagine.

  • Soulshroude

That was quick… another one bites the dust.

  • Wicka Steve

If I had to guess, Bliss has a grade two, which means you can travel but no in ring action and Zelina’s is a grade three, no travel. Morgan’s must have been a one, because if memory serves she was back in the ring the following week.

  • oppa

Given the lawsuits they’ve had, legal would have them be very careful about letting someone travel overseas while concussed.

  • Keith Learmonth

Given WWE’s concussion policies, even a mild one keeps you sidelined now.

  • Keith Learmonth

I’m not Nia’s biggest fan, but this was very clearly Tamina’s fault.
Watch the match. Tamina was supposed to catch Vega as if she’d done a crossbody, or plancha out of the ring, but she doesn’t even attempt to get her arms up. Zelina just kind of hits Tamina, who falls over, instead of making any attempt to break Zelina’s fall.

  • CC

Considering that Bliss is still not in the ring, I am guessing hers is not mild either.

  • Wicka Steve

Can we get rid of Nia yet? This is not the first time that reckless beast has injured someone. She has no business being in the ring.

  • Wicka Steve

Some concussions are more severe than others. The are graded either mild, moderate, or severe. After seeing how Zelina was handled at the ppv, she’s lucky to be alive.

  • CC

Why would a concussion stop her being a manager? Bliss has supposedly got a concussion, and she was brought over for Raw in a non wrestling role.
