2 Dark matches on this week’s SmackDown Live

After SmackDown and 205 Live went off the air this week, Randy Orton came in the ring to face the new Champion Jinder Mahal in a one on one dark match which at first was announced as a WWE Championship match.

Though before the match officially went underway, one of the Singh brothers cut a promo and said that the bout will be a non-title match as the presence of the Maharaja is enough to please the crowd.

After a short match, Orton hit an RKO on Mahal, but the Singh brothers interrupted the bout immediately after, causing a disqualification. Things culminated with Orton delivering RKOs to both Singh brothers as well.

However, this wasn’t the only dark match tonight on SmackDown. Before the show went on air, there was another 8 men tag team dark match which saw the team of  Luke Harper, American Alpha and Tye Dillinger defeating Erick Rowan, Aiden English and The Ascension.

Both the matches were placed strategically by WWE, as the 8 men tag match pleased the audience due to the presence of the hometown star Luke Harper and the Main Event kept the audience glued to their seats through the airing of 205 Live.
