Summer Olympics Gold Medal winner Gable Steveson was shockingly released from WWE, according to a report.
Steveson had joined WWE some time back and had been sharpening his skills in the wrestling world. He had been participating in dark matches. However, there had been uncertainty about his status on WWE programming and reports now confirm his release from the company as part of their recent string of cuts.
Last month, WWE executed talent cuts and several notable stars, including Xyon Quinn, Xia Li, Jinder Mahal, Von Wagner and Cameron Grimes were released.
This week, the trend continued as the company bid farewell to more talent, notably from NXT. The recent wave of releases noted several recognizable names such as Ezekiel Balogun, Julian Baldi, Trey Bearhill, Emms Diaz (known for the WWE Roku Channel series “WWE: Next Gen”), Valentina Feroz, Drew Gulak, Keyshawn Leflore, Darrell Mason, Vlad Pavlenko, and Kiyah Saint. Even Boa found himself among those released.
According to F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer, WWE has decided to release Gable Steveson from his contract which certainly comes as a surprise to many given his struggle to connect with fans.
”Gable Steveson has been released from WWE.”
It was just a month ago that Steveson had expressed contentment with his position in WWE. Nonetheless, with his departure from the company, the future trajectory of his career remains uncertain.
He is just 23-years-old and Steveson still has options, including potentially exploring a career in MMA given his stellar wrestling background. In the past, New Japan Pro-Wrestling and AEW could have been possibilities for Gable Steveson to pursue his wrestling career. However, with WWE’s decision to release him, it seems that they no longer saw potential in his development. Nevertheless, Steveson’s extraordinary accomplishments and athleticism guarantee that he has options to create a successful career path for himself in the future.
