Ronda Rousey Got WWE Star Fired Before Backlash

Drew Gulak’s exit from WWE amid allegations by Ronda Rousey has caused considerable controversy within the wrestling industry. Rousey accused Gulak of inappropriate conduct, specifically alleging that he grabbed the string of her sweatpants without her consent, raising serious questions about workplace behavior in WWE.

Rousey detailed the incident during an interview on NewsNation, where she directly mentioned Gulak and described how she confronted him about his actions.

“Drew Gulak. Drew Gulak, that’s who it was. I confronted him later and I was like, ‘If I ever hear about you putting your hands on any other woman like this or doing anything like this to me ever again, we’re going to have a problem.’ He was like, ‘No, no, no. I’m glad you said something to me.’ He really backpedaled, but it put a sour taste in my mouth about the culture there and what’s considered acceptable on how to touch and treat the women in the hallways, and anywhere.”

After Rousey went public with her claims, WWE launched an investigation into the incident, casting doubt on Gulak’s continued employment with the company. Ultimately, WWE decided to terminate his contract.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio addressed this situation, noting that Rousey’s accusations were a significant factor in Gulak’s release. Although the investigation did not yield conclusive results, the scandal likely played a role in WWE’s decision to let him go.

Meltzer also mentioned that other factors might have contributed to Gulak’s departure, including his salary, which was higher than typical for his role in NXT, and WWE’s lack of creative plans for him. These combined reasons may have prompted the company to end its relationship with Gulak.
