Former President Donald Trump is speaking more openly about his youngest son, Barron, now that he has turned 18 and is set to represent Florida as a delegate at the upcoming Republican National Convention.
Barron, who was 10 years old when his father won the presidency in 2016, has largely stayed out of the public eye. However, Trump recently shared insights about his son during a call to Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, revealing that Barron has a keen interest in politics.
“He’s a smart one,” Trump remarked during the Kayal and Company show. “He’s a great guy. He’s a little on the tall side, I will tell you. But he is a good-looking guy, and he’s really been a great student.

I will tell you, he’s a tall one, but he is a good-looking guy. And he’s really been a great student. And he does like politics. It’s sort of funny. He’ll tell me sometimes, ‘Dad, this is what you have to do.'”
Trump said that Barron, who is in his final year of high school, is preparing for college, but noted that recent events might influence his choice of school. While Barron is rumored to favor New York University, the Trump camp hasn’t confirmed his college plans.
On May 17, the judge in Trump’s hush money trial excused the former president from court so he could attend Barron’s high school graduation. As Barron steps into a more public role, reports suggest he will join his older siblings Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Tiffany Trump as delegates at the Republican National Convention, scheduled from July 15-18. Trump Jr.’s fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, and Tiffany’s husband, Michael Boulos, will also serve as delegates. Notably, Ivanka Trump does not appear on the delegate list.
