It has been noted that the House members are preparing to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt for refusing to cooperate with a subpoena via WLT Report.
It has also been noted that the House Oversight Committee demanded audio files from a special counsel interview with Biden, but Garland said no dice.
Washington Examiner has reported that the House Oversight Committee is considering moving to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress.
In response to Garland’s rejection, House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) is moving to hold him in contempt of Congress.
“The House Oversight and Judiciary Committees issued lawful subpoenas to Attorney General Garland for the audio recordings of President Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Hur, yet he continues to defy our subpoenas,” Comer wrote.
“These audio recordings are important to our investigation of President Biden’s willful retention of classified documents and his fitness to be President of the United States,” he added. “There must be consequences for refusing to comply with lawful congressional subpoenas and we will move to hold Attorney General Garland in contempt of Congress.”
The markup for the resolution to hold Garland in contempt of court will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Washington Examiner previously exclusively reported that the House Judiciary Committee was aiming to hold Garland in contempt of Congress.

“Republicans — led by Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and James Comer of Kentucky — had ordered the department to turn over audio of Hur’s interviews with Biden by early April. But the Justice Department only turned over some of the records, excluding the audio interview with the president. They warned of the precedent that would be set for future investigations if the audio was provided.
Assistant Attorney General Carlos Uriarte, the department’s head of congressional affairs, said in the letter to Jordan and Comer last month that the committees’ interest in these records may not be “in service of legitimate oversight or investigatory functions, but to serve political purposes that should have no role in the treatment of law enforcement files.
Comer dismissed that rationale, saying in response that the Biden administration “does not get to determine what Congress needs and does not need for its oversight of the executive branch.”
