Adam Cole Match Gets Lowest NXT Ratings Ever

Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that the main event of this week’s NXT recorded lowest ratings. Adam Cole, the member of Undisputed Era in NXT had teamed up with his fellow teammate Roderick Strong to take on Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango) in the first round of Dusty Rhodes Classic tournament.

Main event of NXT featuring Adam Cole draws low viewership

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that the viewers had no interest in watching the NXT main event as Dynamite’s main event had Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage for the TNT Championship and they were more leaned towards that bout.

He said:

“The biggest gap was the main event, where AEW did 811,000 viewers and 425,000 in 18-49 for Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage for the TNT title. NXT went with Adam Cole & Roderick Strong vs. Tyler Breeze & Fandango in the Dusty Rhodes tournament and did 496,000 viewers and 152,000 in 18-49, so AEW nearly tripled in the key demo. That was likely the lowest audience and 18-49 viewers for a main event in NXT history. An even worse sign is that when AEW ended, the migration to NXT was only 36,000 viewers and 5,000 in 18-49, an unbelievable small number basically saying the AEW audience had no interest at all in the NXT main event.”

This week’s NXT  opened with the bout between Shotzi Blackheart and Candice LeRae. The show also saw the anticipated debut of MSK(formerly known as the Rascalz in Impact Wrestling) as they defeated the team of Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott and Jake Atlas in the tournament.

Other matches included Grizzled Young Veterans take on Ever Rise in the tournament, Dexter Lumis vs Johnny Gargano.

The most awaited Fight Pit match Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher has been scheduled for the next week’s edition of NXT and it is to be seen if the gold and black brand are able to make any improvement in terms of viewership.
