Adam Cole names next possible contender for NXT Title

The NXT Champion is riding high at the moment after vanquishing Velveteen Dream last week in a title defense. Adam Cole is in the middle of an incredible record-breaking 292 days as the champion of the Black and Gold brand. He’s defeated the best that the brand has to offer, including Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, and Keith Lee.

Cole even knocked off Finn Bálor back in December, though he had some help from a returning Gargano. On WWE’s The Bump, Cole was asked about who he could be defending the title against next.

“Yeah, there is someone that I’ve been thinking about recently, just because… as I’ve surpassed his record of being the longest reigning NXT Champion, a lot of people keep bringing up Finn Bálor as someone that they would love to see challenge once again for the NXT Championship.

The beautiful thing is, I’ve defended my championship against Finn Bálor, and guess what? Adam Cole ‘Bay-Bay’ beat him. So if we want to do another match – whether it’s at NXT television, whether it’s at a NXT TakeOver, I’d be happy to wrestle Finn Bálor and put to rest, finally, that not only did I surpass his record as longest reigning champ, I’m a better champ than he is.”

Cole was also asked about a new enemy for Undisputed Era, Dexter Lumis, and a dream match between the group and the New Day. You can check out the full interview above. His Finn Bálor comments begin right at 13:18.
