AEW Announcers ‘Botch’ Christian Cage Debut

Christian Cage or Ethan Cage? If you watched the Spanish feed of tonight’s AEW Revolution pay-per-view event you would have noticed that it would have seen that the commentators that called tonight’s show weren’t able to tell the difference. Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer was able to explain the botch that took place this evening as he tweeted: “Evidently a big snafu by the Spanish announcers. Somebody thought Ethan Page was Christian Cage.” Christian Cage recently quit WWE for this reason.

In related news, fans took to the Squared Circle subreddit to discuss their reaction to the news of Christian, now known to AEW audiences as Christian Cage joining All Elite Wrestling and what it will mean for the company in the long term. Tom_Dynamite proclaimed: “It’s really funny isn’t it? One month ago people talked about how good he looked, how he could still go and people fantasy booked the matches they wanted to see. Now I see comments that act like he’s an old broken down guy. I get if someone is upset because they expected a different name (though many had unrealistic expectations) but don’t act like Christian is some mediocre wrestler or not HOF worthy because you’re mad.”

While Bookerman32 said: People got their hopes up to insane degrees. They were promised a Hall of Fame talent and a big name. WWE themselves have spent an entire year bringing out Christian as a special guest on their shows and hyping him up as a legend and Hall of Famer in waiting, and even put him in the final four of the rumble just a month ago. But there are some people angry that it wasn’t John Cena. Not to mention this supposed overhyped build was, one promo five days prior to the reveal. It wasn’t that huge of a hype build to begin with, so being disappointed by anything less than the biggest star in the entire industry is just very silly.” An AEW Revolution ‘botch’ on WWE Network was revealed.
