AEW could be putting off huge moment until live audience returns

AEW’s next pay-per-view is All Out, which will be taking place on September 5th. The main event will see Jon Moxley defend his AEW World Title against MJF. However, due to the lack of a live audience, the company could be holding back a huge change.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the fact that the company has held some things back. Certain spots are better when there is a live crowd to witness them. This could include the World Title changing hands.

Meltzer said that AEW does not want to “do the Drew McIntyre thing” and have a huge moment for someone without a crowd. He specifies that WWE had no choice as Lesnar was leaving, but talks about how different it would have been if McIntyre had done it in front of 70,000 people as opposed to in an empty stadium. He said that this is similar to many things AEW has planned and that some things just need to get that “giant pop”. While he thinks it is best to save such moments for now, he is also worried about what companies will do if the situation does not change for another year.

The COVID-19 pandemic changed many plans the company had. We will have to see what they do at All Out.
