AEW Fail To Sign Top WWE Diva

WWE Hall Of Famer Lita is a pioneer for women’s wrestling in WWE and a true trailblazer who laid the foundation for the women’s revolution in the company.

Britt Baker is currently one of the top female wrestlers in the AEW Women’s division. She also had her own talk show segment called the Waiting Room. Britt Baker eventually became the AEW Women’s Champion last year at Double Or Nothing.
According to a report by Fightful Select, AEW reached out to Lita back in 2019 to appear during an episode of AEW Dynamite. It was reported that the company made a pitch to Lita last year, which could have resulted in her facing off against Britt Baker at AEW All Out. Of course, this did not happen as Baker went on to face Kris Statlander instead.
Lita also returned on this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown and destroyed Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. She will also compete in the Women’s Royal Rumble match later this month.
Fightful learned via sources close to Lita that AEW had reached out to the WWE Hall of Famer back in 2021 to appear on a show, but the two sides were unable to come to terms. Specifically, we learned that a pitch was made to Lita to appear in a top program with the AEW Women’s Champion Dr. Britt Baker DMD. There were talks between the two sides and a creative plan laid out to possibly happen around AEW All Out 2021, but it didn’t end up happening.
WWE have released Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Ruby Riott, Santana Garrett, and Buddy Murphy. The reason cited was part of budget cuts, and Strowman was being paid $1.2 million per year according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The former WWE Universal Champion signed a new contract in October 2019, so the budget cut regarding Strowman is the WWE’s biggest saving financially from all of the talent cuts in the last year plus during the pandemic. Braun Strowman was fired by WWE for a very surprising reason as well.
