AEW Major Smackdown Surprise Revealed?

The Wednesday Night Wars between AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT started back in October of 2019. For the majority of the time, AEW Dynamite defeated NXT in ratings. The Wednesday Night Wars ended a couple of weeks ago as WWE NXT moved to Tuesdays while AEW Dynamite remained on Wednesdays.

According to a report by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, AEW Dynamite will air on Friday, May 28 instead of Wednesday, May 26 due to the NBA Playoffs. The show will reportedly air at 10 p.m. ET on that Friday. It was further reported that AEW will be taping four hours of content on Friday, May 28 at Daily’s Place with two hours of AEW Dark being taped before Dynamite goes live.

The May 28 episode of AEW Dynamite is the go-home show for AEW Double or Nothing. The pay-per-view will be taking place on May 30.

It was also reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW’s second weekly show, a one-hour show, is likely to change direction. It was supposed to be scheduled this Fall but that has now changed.

However, this could affect the proposed second weekly AEW show, which was scheduled to begin in the fall. It also could affect AEW during the playoffs, as the NBA playoffs do, and force it to move time slots a few weeks a year and the NHL playoffs, at the same time, could also do the same.
