Last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite ended with Chris Jericho coming face-to-face with Matt Hardy. The segment took place in front of an empty arena and apparently, what the fans saw was the second version.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, DaveMeltzer said that AEW had taped the Matt Hardy/Chris Jericho segment on Tuesday, but that Jericho had “absolutely hated it” and wanted to redo it. It was obviously impossible to do the segment as planned live. This presented another problem as the venue is outdoors which meant there would be light outside, so it could not be taped in the afternoon and put in the show. Eventually, the segment was re-taped in the evening and put into the show.
The episode was live except for Kip Sabian vs Darby Allin. The match was taped on Tuesday. When the match was shown during Dynamite, they re-shot the Jericho and Hardy segment, editing it to the end of the episode.
It was said the second version was liked by everyone much more.
