AEW Sign WWE Diva Legend To Huge Contract

The former WWE Divas Champion Paige(now Saraya) made a shocking debut at the recent AEW Dynamite Grand Slam. AEW Dynamite Grand Slam saw a Fatal Four-way match for the Interim AEW Women’s World Championship that featured the reigning champ Toni Storm, Serena Deeb, Athena, and Britt Baker. After Storm successfully retained her title, the former WWE star made her way down to the ring, much to the crowd’s shock. Now, her contract details have been revealed.

Paige has a lucrative deal

It has been noted that Paige had been struggling with neck issues over the past few years that had put a halt on her in-ring career. She was under a contract with WWE but she recently announced that she’d soon be ending her long run with WWE. She shocked the wrestling world when she announced that she’ll be leaving WWE in July. It was then revealed that WWE didn’t want to re-sign Paige to a new contract.

Fightful Select reported that it looks like she’s going to be with the company for quite some time. Fightful further reported that AEW made contact with her not long after she became a free agent in July. There was a word as far back as Starrcast weekend that AEW had interest in the former Divas Champion, though not many details were known until last week.

Sources familiar with the situation tell Fightful Select that Saraya has agreed to a three-year contract with AEW. We are not sure if there are option years at play, as is often the case with AEW. However, we’re told for the amount of money it was signed for “largely implies that she’ll be wrestling in some capacity.” We haven’t been given any indication of whether or not she’s been cleared, but she is set to speak on AEW Dynamite tonight.

Numerous talent within AEW had went to bat for the newest star of the promotion and put in good words, but one AEW name said “she didn’t need it, since there was interest when she became available.” Those that the outlet spoke to on the roster seemed excited about her joining the company.
