QT Marshall is currently a AEW star and also works as a producer. But prior to the stint at the company, he had worked in Ring of Honor(ROH). He recently spoke on the Wrestling Perspective podcast and recalled his early days in ROH.Marshall worked for Ring of Honor during 2012 to 2018.
QT Marshall is having a good run in AEW
He spoke about the low payments he received while working with that promotion and he considered it not to be the ‘real job’. Bruce Prichard ‘Replaced’ On WWE Smackdown?
He said:
“When Ring of Honor offered me my contract and I saw the number, I looked at ROH for what it was at the time. In 2012, it was a stepping stone to get somewhere else. I wasn’t smart enough to keep that in my head. I was telling a couple of people that and my boss that. ‘Obviously, this isn’t a real job.’ We’re working three shows a month and I’m making $100 a match. That doesn’t pay my car payment.”
He reflected on how ROH started paying more to the talents only after Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks came to the scene. He noted the less worthy talents are also getting high pay but during Marshall’s time they received low paychecks.
He said:
“I understand you have to start somewhere, but at the time, I’m seeing the money that Sinclair broadcasting has and you’re not paying affordable wages, look what happened. They tried to do the same thing until Cody and The Young Bucks showed up and now they are paying ridiculous money to guys that probably aren’t worth that. Whether they are, I don’t know, but I look at some of their talent and am like, ‘They’re doing well, they should call Cody and The Bucks and thank them.’
Recently he had a match with Cody Rhodes on AEW Dynamite Blood and Guts edition which was one of the biggest highlights in his career.
