AEW wrestler Jake Hager, formerly known as Jack Swagger, revealed that he received his largest Royal Rumble paycheck after after being annihilated by Brock Lesnar in 2016 in mere seconds.
Hager told Fightful, “The time I was in there was the shortest where Lesnar just threw me out. I really think that was my favorite because that was the most I got paid for a Royal Rumble with the shortest time. Who knows how they decided to pay us.
But, for some reason, that was a good payday for me. It was literally seven seconds. It was like duck a clothesline, F-5, see ya. Mike Chioda came running over to me, he was so upset. He was like, ‘Swags, what was that?’ I just turned to him and said, ‘I just got tagged, Chi-chi. What do you want?,'” Hager laughed.
Hager, The Inner Circle’s muscle, appears much happier in AEW than he was in his final days with WWE.
He said in a Sportskeeda interview, “To be in the Inner Circle at All Elite. This last year is some of the greatest work [Chris Jericho] has ever done and to have Jake Hager next to that is really, really an honor. Do I feel like WWE misused me? Of course, I do. But like, nothing I say or do now is ever going to change the past. All I can do is move forward and smile, and sometimes that’s difficult, but you know, when you are winning, it’s not difficult at all. It’s easy not to be upset, still brittle about stuff that has happened. It’s time to move on and smile because life is short.”
