AEW Star Rejected Losing To The Rock

Former WWE Superstar CM Punk has not been seen on WWE television since the 2014 edition of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. He walked out of the company the next day and has not looked back since then. Following his WWE exit, many fans have been wanting to see Punk make his return to the company every year. He has yet to make his return to the squared circle and at this point, it seems very unlikely. A WWE Superstar was also previously punished for ripping off CM Punk.

CM Punk has been in talks with AEW for quite a while as indicated by reports and it all came true as The Second City Saint made his return to pro wrestling on AEW Rampage: The First Dance back in August.

The Rock ended Punk’s 434-day WWE Championship reign at the 2013 Royal Rumble. A month later, he defeated John Cena as well. Former WWE writer Matt McCarthy recently revealed that CM Punk had problems delivering a promo about The Rock back in 2013 as well.

I remember Punk being handed a promo about The Rock and him refusing to [say it]. He’s like, ‘So now I’ve got to f*cking put over The Rock? F*ck that.’ I remember that happening. I don’t recall anyone walking out per se.
