AEW Star Reminds Hulk Hogan Of Racist Comments

AEW wrestler Big Swole has sent out a tweet that appears to imply that Hulk Hogan’s racist remarks that leaked in 2015 are the real reason many younger wrestlers give him the ‘cold shoulder’ backstage. Swole responded to a Fightful.com article titled, “Hulk Hogan: Some Of The Younger Guys Are Cold To Me, Like I’m Coming To Steal The Main Event.” Swole responded, “Nah, I don’t think that’s it Terry.”

Hogan’s recorded comments from the late 2000’s surfaced in 2015, where he used racist remarks when discussing his daughter Brooke dating an African American man. Hogan said in the leaked comments, “I guess we’re all a little racist.”

WWE quickly terminated Hogan, releasing a statement that said, “WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan),” said a statement from WWE. “WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide.”

WWE brought Hogan back at Crown Jewel in 2018, three years after his release. Hogan apologized for his comments in the media, but had to talk to Big E multiple times once returning to WWE after his initial backstage apology was not well received. Tony Khan has said that Hulk Hogan is banned from all AEW events. Swole is an African American AEW wrestler.

Hogan told ESPN today about returning to Raw for Legends’ Night, “It’s a mixed bag. Some people I get a really warm reception from. Some of the younger guys are really cold to me, like I’m coming to steal the main event. And I’m like, ‘I can’t do this anymore, guys! I’m not a threat!’ Going back with all the legends will be a lot of fun.”
