AJ Styles’ made an impressive WWE debut during the Royal Rumble event in 2016 and he got the support of fans upon his arrival in the company.
However, according to the Phenomenal One, the boss Vince McMahon wasn’t impressed with his performance and he thought that the reaction Styles received was a fluke.
During his latest weekly Twitch stream, the former World Champion revealed the Boss’ reaction to his debut at the event, claiming that he wasn’t even going to be on Raw the next night:
“The reaction that I got at the Royal Rumble 2016 was awesome, it was amazing, but Vince didn’t really believe that – [he thought] that it was a fluke, basically. that’s what he thought it was. I wasn’t even going to be on RAW the next day, but they convinced him otherwise.”
Thankfully, Vince’s perception changed over time and Styles has gone on to become one of the top stars of WWE after earning the trust of the chairman.
