NXT is considered one of the best programs produced by WWE and one of the reason for its success is believed to be the freedom stars get to portray their natural character rather than being forced into a gimmick they don’t connect to.
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the former NXT Champion Aleister Black talked about his time in NXT and revealed what Triple H told him when he first arrived at the scene.
The Raw star revealed that Hunter told him to be to himself and he also mentioned how he felt lost and insecure during his early days in the development territory:
“The good thing about what Hunter did, or as I call him, ‘Boss,’ he believed in me and he never tried to change me, He told me, ‘I signed you for you. Don’t be something you’re not. Never forget that. When I started in NXT, I felt super insecure, for a very long time, I was completely lost. I lost my identity; I lost all sense of who I was.”
During the interview, Black also revealed that he watched NJPW when he was young and said that wrestlers like Hayabusa, Yuji Nagata, Jushin Liger, Tiger Mask, and Toshiaki Kawada influenced him in his young age.
