It has just been revealed that Amanda Nunes, who was scheduled to fight Julianna Pena and defend her UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship at UFC 265 will no longer do so after testing positive for COVID-19. In an update to that development, it is being reported and confirmed MMAJunkie’s senior reporter Mike Bohn that along with Nunes, her wife Nina and infant daughter Raegan each have the virus. This top boxer recently ‘exposed’ a surprising Amanda Nunes claim.
“Nina Nunes tells me her, Amanda Nunes and their infant daughter Raegan all tested positive for COVID-19. Wishing them the best”
Amanda and Nina have recently set up an Instagram account for Raegan where the first photo of her since it was annouced that she and her family have the virus, innocently looking at her beloved dog, can be seen below.
Nunes’ match is expected to be rescheduled with an optimistic timeframe of sometime in December. UFC 265 takes place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas next week on August 7th on pay=per=view while the preliminaries will be shown on both ESPN and ESPN+. It’s scheduled main event is Derrick Lewis vs. Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title. Nunes has not lost a fight in the UFC since 2014 against Cat Zingano at UFC 178.
