Another WWE Superstar has name shortened

Recently, we saw Andrade “Cien” Almas become, simply, Andrade. The WWE has a habit of shortening names of superstars almost at random. Through more established guys like Rusev, Cesaro, and Big E to more recent call-ups like Heavy Machinery’s Otis and Tucker, we’ve seen the company do this several times over the past several years, and today, another superstar was added to that list.

SmackDown Live star Mustafa Ali has only been on the Blue Brand since mid-December and has already gone through a sort of semi-rebranding. Now, the former Heart of 205 Live is simply known as Ali.

Ali has been very vocal about the sort of reaction he gets from fans when they heard his name, feeling that fans have been groomed to boo those who appear to be from the Middle East. It’s been his goal for quite some time to help change that mindset, as he’s revealed in several interviews, so it will be interesting to hear his opinion on change.

So far we’ve seen all of his social media accounts updated, removing Mustafa from them all, but he has yet to make any comment regarding it.
