Backstage news on the Champion vs Champion match for Survivor Series

Brock Lesnar vs Jinder Mahal Survivor Series

We noted before how a leaked poster revealed that John Cena will be the special guest referee for the upcoming Champion vs Champion match between Jinder Mahal and Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series.

Some fans argued against this decision from the company as they believed that someone like Stone Cold Steve Austin would have been a better pick to play this role, though it appears that WWE had long-term intentions behind this decision.

Per Wrestling Observer, the company is planning to do a Cena vs Mahal match at a later date and the reason to put John as a referee is to set up a future match between these two.

While it’s not clear what this means for the match at the upcoming PPV, it’s likely that Jinder will lose the upcoming match and the Cenation Leader will play a part in his defeat.

It’s worth mentioning here that Jinder Mahal will be defending the WWE Championship against AJ Styles at SmackDown this week, but these plans might have already revealed who will be victorious in that bout.

Whether you like or hate the concept of Mahal as champion, feeding him to Cena is just wrong.
It needs to go someone who actually needs it.

Honestly, Cena being the one to defeat Jinder should not happen.

Mahal needs to lose the title to someone who needs to be elevated from where they are, or his reign was pointless. Sure, Cena is going to be a 17 time champion one day, that’s inevitable, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of the push someone could get by dethroning Jinder. It should be a face vs face match in the main event of WM, or something, when Cena gets his 17th. Make a big deal about it, and put him with a major opponent.
