Backstage news on current main event plans for Evolution

Ronda Rousey

After SummerSlam, WWE Evolution is one the biggest events the company needs to worry about and it appears that they have already finalized the main event of the show.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer WWE is planning for Ronda Rousey to main event the upcoming Women’s only event and Nikki Bella is expected to be her opponent.

The idea behind this bout is that Rousey and Bella are two of the most famous women on the main roster today and a bout between them will garner a lot of mainstream media attention.

Though it’s worth mentioning here that while this is what the company is currently planning, other ideas for the show’s main event have been tossed around as well and plans could change.

As we noted before The finals of the Mae Young Classic Tournament was the first match officially announced for the show and then the company also announced a bout between Alexa Bliss and Trish Stratus for the event.

This is just speculation, so am not going to go off on WWE for this until it is proven, but what I will say is that if they want this PPV to succeed it does not need lots of gimmicks. A Trish match against Bliss is great, and as long as Trish can still go, it will be good. But, to have several of these gimmick matches will kill everything.
I am just glad that Becky attacking Charlotte last night puts paid to the 4 horsewomen match that was rumoured originally, but a match against Nikki Bella helps nobody (except Nikkis bank balance).

Rousey should be facing someone on the current roster. Someone like Natalya or even Nia Jax.
Hell, a champion vs champion match would not hurt either.

    Look who “wrote” the article.

This has nothing to do with celebrating women. It’s done at the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month for good pub. They know they can get Nikki booked on morning shows and they are hoping the mainstream outlets will book Ronda to make them look good. But so far, most major news agencies are either burying the story or not covering it at all. So this probably won’t work the way they want it to.

I’d be fine with that, if Rousey beats her in about 2 minutes.

Wait what?! How is Nikki on the main roster?! Shes not even a part timer….
